No because they could change, but life long prison yes. Too bad for the one who changes to normal. Now the rapists are protected instead of kids when they just give em a year.

Florida state is attempting to make child rape punishable by death.

Do you think child rape warrants a death penalty? Why or why not?

So much nuance in a headline like this it's just silly.

The obvious question is what exactly counts as a child? When we're talking about infants it's pretty easy - it's hard to see how anyone could look at a 5-year-old and think they were 16, or think they were able to consent even if they did say a few words that suggested they might. But what about someone who is just a few months short of the age of consent? What if a girl who is 15 years and 11 months sleeps with her boyfriend who just turned 16? If that's allowed, what if her boyfriend is 17? 18? 21?

When teenagers can be charged with statutory rape and registered as sex offenders for nothing more than having sex with an entirely consenting boy/girlfriend who is just a few months younger, adding the possibility of an execution to the mix is ridiculous.

It has been voted in deSantis approved it.
The law is for molestations of children under 12. It is believed generally a child molester will continue such actions all of their lives. Receiving constant professional may help them to overcome urges but that may be a long shot.
The perpetrator may actually begin to kill the children because they know if they're caught they have a high chance of receiving a death penalty - so we may have more children being killed.

That's a hard question because of possible consequences - locking them away for the rest of their lives is another solution.

It's not so weird that they keep doing it. They're demon posessed. But some ppl think therapy will help and are then surprised when they rape and kill the next one.

12 is still a slightly awkward age - if two kids who have been exposed to inappropriate levels of sexual activity decide to experiment for themselves what happens then? If one child just turned 12 and the other will be 12 next month, does a child get executed for experimenting when ultimately they are just as much a victim as the younger child?

I'm not sure being locked up for the rest of your life would make you any less likely to kill your victim when compared to being executed. I gather child sex abusers don't have a whole lot of fun in prison.

I believe the law applies to adult's abuse of children and not children with children.

Being locked up for the rest of one's life - they have no access to children.

Throughout my lifetime prisoners don't take kindly to child molesters and they may come up dead ....

The trouble with any arbitrarily defined line is when it creates vastly different treatments for people who are only very marginally different, but straddle the arbitrarily defined line.

Well, yes, that's why I said the bit about child molesters not having a whole lot of fun in prison. From what I gather they are pretty much at the bottom of the ranking orders in there. Still, at least a "life sentence" doesn't have to be very long for them.

They can give em their own cell. They don't have to be treated like filth. But they also don't have to give them too much freedom, like they do in Holland.
