Heard someone in passing that they want to cut chicken out of their diet as they say Scripture is unclean. I've never heard about this, so wanted to get some discussion and insight on this. He mentioned wanting to put more lamb in his diet to replace chicken.

Why do people worry about what is "unclean" from an old testament perspective anyway?

I dont know anyone who is worried about it or even legalistic but I do know people who follow it because it makes sense health wise and is a good diet to follow. God in His wisdom presented healthy eating biblically. Unless you are an observant Jew I dont see anyone being legalistic about it

I knew someone who wanted to eat vegetarian because that was healthy and the Genesis diet. Better only eat fruit then if you do the Genesis diet. Herbs are for the animals.

Seventh Day Adventists are legalistic about it and so are Messianic Jews.

I don't recall any passages in holy scripture that say that God gave the clean and unclean food regulations as a health measure.

No but animals that eat other animals or filth arent really healthy. Just bless your food and eat it. What God has declared clean you shall not keep for unholy.
Frogs are tasty. If you look at your food like that you cant eat anything anymore. Fruit is poisoned. Nothing is good.

Just bless your food.

Science backs up the fact that the unclean are not good for you and that what is clean is healthy

Does that matter. Science also back up biological evolution and a 13.8 billion years old universe

Yup, ceremonially chicken is clean (thus your Jewish neighbor making chicken soup when you have a cold)....

I like to eat chicken! It tastes a lot like snake. Mind you, I buy chicken at the store, usually all cut up in pretty unrecognizable form, hopefully clean (although its always good to give it a good rinsing at home)

Are you sure? Science has been coming down pretty hard on beef recently. Where is this science of which you speak?

Don't think that's the case. A friend of mine is a very observant Jew and he will eat chicken, as long as it's kosher. The fact kosher chicken exists indicates it's clean - you won't find kosher pork anywhere.
