Car wash or do it yourself

Do you prefer taking your dirty car to a car wash or do you prefer to was it yourself (and why)?

Those automated things are hard on the car. I use excellent products and very carefully apply them in order to protect the paint.

When my car gets dirty I wait for a good rainstorm and park it outside.

In the winter we use the brushless auto car wash and in the other seasons we prefer to do it ourselves.
