No... Not body + spirit = soul.

Soul = soul, spirit = spirit, and flesh body = flesh body.

Hebrews 14:2, Ecclesiastes 12:5-7, and Matthew 10:28, and John 3:6 shows differently.

Heb 4:12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of
soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
KJV

That shows we have 3 separate parts to how God created us.

Eccl 12:5-7
5 Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:
6 Or
ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.
7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it.
KJV

The above reveals that our 'spirit' part is not of our flesh body. They separate at flesh death, when that "silver cord" is cut which is something that holds the two together while our flesh is alive in this world.

John 3:6
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
KJV

By that above verse, Lord Jesus confirmed that our 'spirit' part is of a different dimension and operation than our flesh body. Our spirit was given by God and comes from Him. It is not flesh at all.

Matt 10:28
28 And fear not them which kill the body,
but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him Which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
KJV

By that above Jesus showed our soul is not part of our flesh body either, that it does not die if our flesh were killed.

All of those reveal that our 'spirit' is linked to our 'soul' both made up of Spirit, yet still separate. Our 'spirit' is about our heavenly type body which is non-flesh. Our 'soul' is about our 'person', what makes us each an individual.

When our flesh body dies, our spirit with soul is manifest in the heavenly dimension. Like Jesus told the malefactor crucified with Him, that 'this day you will be with Me in Paradise' (Luke 23:42-43).

In 2 Corinthians 5, Apostle Paul showed that if our earthly house were suddenly dissolved, we still have another body not made with hands from God, eternal in the heavens. Paul was pointing to our 'spirit' body image that we already have dwelling inside our flesh body. It with our 'soul' (person) is what leaves our flesh body at flesh death.

The belief that our soul is made up of flesh, and is part of our flesh body, is an old Jewish tradition they believed from the idea in Genesis 2:7 about God breathing into Adam the breath of life, and Adam became a "living soul". Their claim is that our 'soul' dies with our flesh body, and both must be resurrected together. Not so, not what those above Bible Scriptures reveal that I referenced.

That old Jewish tradition is where man's 'dead in the ground' theory originates. Many Churches today still preach that old 'dead in the ground' dogma that believes when we die we are literally asleep in the casket until the resurrection. That 'asleep in the ground' idea goes directly against the Eccl.12 and Luke 23 and John 3:6 verses above.
