I wouldn't say I've given up anything. My wife and I eat out less often than we used to and tend to shift our menus around based on what's the most sensible price. Sometimes we'll have a menu planned for the week only to find some key part of it has massively gone up in price so we'll scratch it and replace it with something else. It may be that just replaces beef with chicken (or vice versa, depending).
To a large extent we just watch to make sure we're cutting out as much wasted spending as possible. It's surprising how much money it's easy to waste by not doing basic stuff like combining errands into fewer trips, even when gas isn't relatively expensive.
