Police in Australia are accusing 24 people of deliberately setting bushfires

"Police have charged at least 24 people for intentionally starting bushfires in the state of New South Wales, according to a statement the New South Wales Police released Monday.

NSW Police have taken legal action against 183 people, 40 of whom are juveniles, for fire-related offenses since November 8, the statement said. The legal actions range from cautions to criminal charges."

It appears that not all the people were purposely trying to start a wildfire but some things were cooking purposes or tossing a lit cigarette.

For those not intentionmally doing I would charge with reckless endangerment but for those who deliberately set them the charge should be murder

Southern California - like some parts of Australia - are given to terrible fires. Arson is always a problem, but at least 3 very big fires around here were started otherwise - two by electrical power lines being blown down in strong "Santa Ana" winds, and one simply by a car that had mechanical problems on the freeway and pulled off the road, the too hot exhaust started the brush on fire and the winds spread it very quickly.

I wonder about our friend MoreCoffee?

It's started to rain down there which has helped with the fires.

Sad people start this without realizing the consequence. Hope more rain pours in and stops the fire completely.

We didn't know the wildfires were so huge and devastating, they are being called 'apocalyptic' by the news. The signs of the times are being recognized it seems, even by them.

I have read that the graphic above is a simulation showing all the fires that have occurred since last year until recently and is not a photograph and wasn't intended to be seen as one.

Even by them? Because the press pushing the whole climate disaster agenda would never overstate something that supports their pet cause, right?

Not quite sure what you mean, its a fire, its devastating, and it seems even they are holding back directly from that as a whole.
Here is from a climate change newspaper, notice they say it but have no facts on it..

"Why These Australia Fires Are Like Nothing We’ve Seen Before
More than 16 million acres have gone up in flames. And it has happened in populated areas, unlike most of the world’s other blazes of this scale."

Saying it's a sign of the times that the media is using terms like "apocalyptic" overlooks the way the media is prone to sensationalism at the best of times.

Well, what would you call it... with hurricanes the size of Florida, over a 1000 earthquakes in just one of the islands in the Caribbean, Brazil being swept much like Australia just a few months ago, America on the edge of a political firestorm... We need to open our eyes and ears.

I don't think those people did it, since they won't get anything for burning those trees. The police should investigate and then send for jail. Sometimes it may happen falsely, but taking some strict actions it won't happen again.
