PARIS (Reuters) - France was rocked by multiple, near simultaneous attacks on entertainment sites around Paris on Friday evening and French media said at least 60 people were killed and hostages were being held in a concert hall in the capital.
The apparently coordinated gun and bomb attacks came as the country, a founder member of the U.S.-led coalition waging air strikes against Islamic State fighters in Syria and Iraq, was on high alert for terrorist attacks ahead of a global climate conference that opens later this month.


Western security sources said they suspected an Islamist militant group was behind the carnage.

At least two explosions were heard near the Stade de France national stadium where a France-Germany friendly soccer match was being played, attended by President Francois Hollande.

This is indeed a call to prayer. Latest reports say the police stormed the concert hall and killed two attackers. They are saying the death toll is > 100 and the President has closed the borders and called a state of emergency.

I feel anger just as you do. We end up killing people who Lord Jesus died to save. Let us pray that the Lord appear to them in dreams and visions. Let them leave these organizations and come into the saving Knowledge of Him who died to save sinners. Pray that this evil spirit of violence and death leave them. Let us pray in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

How are they any more an enemy of the cross than you or I were before we were saved? Jesus died for them just as much as he died for you or for me.

I agree that we need to take steps to protect ourselves but praying that God will touch them just as he touched us isn't such a big ask, is it?

French police make 23 arrests in series of raids over attacks

PARIS (Reuters) - French police have arrested 23 people and seized arms including rocket launchers during wave of overnight raids as part of an investigation into the attacks on Paris, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on Monday.

Over the last 48 hours, 104 people were put under house arrest and police conducted 168 raids last night, Cazeneuve told journalists.

"Let this be clear to everyone, this is just the beginning, these actions are going to continue," Cazeneuve said.

I still struggle with the ongoing "thread assessments" that we're given.

In London a few years back a credible bomb threat was called in to the police, so the police went to locate the vehicle containing the bomb. The vehicle wasn't there - it turned out parking enforcement had towed it away. It was sitting in a compound a few miles away. If anything is an obvious terror target it's things like the London Underground, the Subway in NYC and the Metro in DC. The London Underground was bombed in July 2005 but aside from that management ineptitude is more of an nuisance than terrorist activity.

Then we see the reports of foiled attacks, like the guy on the plane who failed to set fire to his shoe, another guy who failed to set fire to his underpants before the other passengers beat ten bells out of him and sat on him until the plane landed, and so on. That's the sort of thing I'd expect to see if the enemy was Mr Bean, not a supposedly well-trained and well-funded organisation.

Paris (AFP) - A woman blew herself up and a suspected jihadist was killed during a huge police assault in Paris Wednesday targeting the suspected mastermind of last week's attacks in the capital.

Gunfire and explosions rocked the Saint-Denis area in the north of the capital near the Stade de France stadium from before dawn as terrified residents were evacuated or told to stay in their homes.

Authorities arrested seven people, while five police officers suffered minor injuries in the operation which turned into a seven-hour stand-off between security forces and a group of people holed up in an apartment.

Gunfire first rang out in the darkness at around 4.00am (0300 GMT) in the streets close to where three suicide bombers had detonated their explosives outside the stadium at the start of Friday's attacks.

Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said telephone surveillance and witness reports "led us to believe" that Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected mastermind of Friday's series of attacks in Paris that killed 129 people, had been in the apartment.

However, Molins added it was too early to say if he was among those arrested or killed.

I was watching the goings on on CNN early this morning before they raided the place. I heard the explosion, maybe the woman who killed herself with a bomb. They are really acting fast in France, the police and detectives and army that is.
