Mike Tyson once said, “ social media has made you so comfortable disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it.”
Do you agree or disagree with his statement and why?
I believe it is a hypocritical statement from Tyson.
Social media lets you present truly what you believe without the immediate fear of physical reprisal. Which means those who disagree must resort to defeating by debate what you say. And when they can't, they feel 'disrespected'.
And, 'disrespect' is a very vague and subjective term. Just because something makes one mad that you said, doesn't mean it isn't true. And if it's true, it's not disrespect, it's truth.
Tyson's statement is hypocritical because he wants his superiority as a black professional boxer to intimidate what anyone says. And 'disrespect' becomes whatever he says it is. Typical.
We've gone to seed with the word 'disrespect'.
