Do you think that today's government still holds this to be true?

Not even close., more like government by the government for the government and cant do anything without a poll.

No. It seems that our gov't has the mistaken notion that, from the President on down, they "rule" us and we the people are here for their disposal. The tragedy is, that most citizens tend to agree.

God help us.
