I have one right now and I can't take any Tums because I took my thyroid medicine an hour ago and can't take any calcium within 4 hours. I'll have to wait it out now.

Perhaps that medicine caused the stomach ache.

No, I've been taking my thyroid medicine for 4 years now (I have no thyroid) and it doesn't give me a stomachache.

Was it something you ate?

Sometimes it is and sometimes it's allergies. I've always had a sensitive tummy. It feels better now after I went back to bed and took a nap (which I rarely do!).

Something causes the stomach ache.

So, to answer that you must first determine what the cause is.

I've found papaya enzyme tablets usually help. I seldom get a stomachache though, although as I get older I find rich food is more likely to make me feel delicate.

I had no idea that you can't take calcium within 4 hours of taking thyroid medicine. Is this basic hormone or something else?

It's on the paper from the pharmacy. You also can't take an iron pill or eat a lot of high fiber foods because it prevents the absorption of the thyroid medicine. I take Levothyroxine.

Indigestion/stomach aches are largely a thing of the past for me since going vegan, except...

sometimes when I drink too much alcohol. Then they can resurface. Thankfully, they usually precede a large bowel movement or 2, which are wonderful at expelling temporary pain and discomfort.

For corpse eaters, I recommend ginger. It can help.

Eat some chile's, vegan eater, and see how the past comes to life.

Do you mind me asking how much Levothyroxine you take? A friend of mine takes it because she has an underactive thyroid, although nothing like what you've described in other posts here.

I had my thyroid removed over 4 years ago and for the first 3 years I was taking 100 mcg of Levothyroxine a day. Now I'm taking a bit more...

For the first week I take 112 mcg daily. For the next week I take 112 mcg for 6 days and then a half a pill on the 7th.

I never took any thyroid hormone before my surgery, although I should have since I had hypothyroid symptoms for most of my life. My numbers were "in range" which is why they refused to medicate. But now that I keep a spreadsheet of my dosages and blood work numbers, as well as symptoms and how I feel, I know that "in range" isn't helpful and if my TSH is too high then I need more hormone. If it's too low then I need less hormone, even if it's "in range".

Interesting because my pill bottle from Walgreens says only to take it on an empty stomach, preferably 1/2- to 1-hour before breakfast and to take it with a full glass of water. My insurance dropped Walgreens so I got my last refill at CVS and their bottle says empty stomach, before breakfast (nothing about the wait time), but also says do not take antacids, calcium, or iron within 4 hours. Well I don't take anything like that in the morning, and I do try to wait. But I guess I am off topic. I do have my thyroid complete but to stop the growths, they put me on the Levothyroxine. Sister, father, and grandmother all had thyroid cancer.

As for the topic, I have not had a stomach ache in a long time and am thankful for that. I can get a stomach ache if I eat watermelon on an empty stomach.

Interesting - I think my friend said she takes 75mcg. I'd have thought the difference in dosage would have been much bigger than that, if you had yours removed completely.

I remember she said something about wanting to reduce her dosage but I'm not sure if she wanted to cut it to 50 or 25mcg.

I thought that my dosage would be higher too, but the bloodwork shows that this is all my body needs right now.
