The last payphone in NYC was just removed. When was the last time you remember actually using a pay phone? And, if the answer is never, when was the last time you even saw a payphone?

I remember quite a lot of years ago needing to make a call but background noise was a bit intense so I ducked into a payphone cubicle to get at least some piece and quiet. It seemed a bit weird standing in a payphone cubicle using my cellphone but it was one of those "do what you need to do" situations.

I'm sure it's been over 20 years since I last used a payphone! We used them all the time when I was younger. It was a way to get privacy that you couldn't get at home when there was only one phone and the cord only went 10 feet or so.

When we were teens we would always check the pay phone coin return and sometimes would get a couple of dimes.

Last time I used a pay phone was probably about 2005.

I tried about 10 years ago when I let my cellphone at home. No change slot. Apparently I needed to insert my credit card. Nope

Never saw one of those, but had to do the credit card to put air in my donut spare after a missing piece of road took out my tire last winter. Two $2 shots on the air pump and I made it 15 miles home. Need to carry a hand pump in the car. As for the phone, i will have to wave someone down or turn on my cheezy flip phone that gets turned on about once a week whether I need to or not.
