For those of you who do not yet know on Monday Night (Australian time) Australia received a new Prime Minister after his Party (The Liberal Party of Australia, a conservative party in Australia) voted Tony Abbot out as their leader and voted in Malcolm Turnbull as leader and hence as the new Prime Minister of Australia. On Sunday night (last night Australian time) Malcolm Turnbull appointed his new Cabinet.

Yes, we have removed a Christian leader for that of a very wordly and carnal leader! Sadly, this is our fifth change in five years, which says a lot about our politics and maybe even a lot about us as well.

As far as I know both Tony Abbot and Malcolm Turnbull are Catholics. Neither one seemed especially devout and neither seems especially keen to fight for their religious views in government policy.

Even though I agree that Abbot was probably not a Born Again Christian, he did appear to support Christian values where I must admit that I did not know that Turnbull even had any Church affilliations - so I have learnt something new. From what I can from Turnbulls comments over the years, he seems to be nothing less than an anti-Christian.

Irrespective of the strengths and weaknesses of our various illustrious leaders, it is nothing less than embarrassing to realise that we have had five leaders in five years. Who knows, if they can't get their act together maybe we should franchise out our government or turn it into a work-for-the-dole program!

I did not say that either man was not born from above ['again' if you prefer]. Both are very likely as genuinely christians and spirit 'regenerated' as any other political figure in the western world.

Malcolm Turnbull converted from Presbyterian to Catholic around the time of his marriage; his wife and her family are Catholic.

Now that makes sense, so Turnbull became a Roman Catholic to keep his wife and her family happy. I wonder if he would have become an atheist if his intending wife was one, though I wonder if she ever goes to church?

Your post appears to be reading things into the events; he did convert but there's no stated reason and no suggestion that the conversion was for convenience or for family peace alone.
