A new Phone!

I bought a Xiaomi Mi A1 smart phone because it has Android One which means that google will push security updates and new operating system updates as well as new operating system versions to the phone for an extended period. The new Phone looks a lot like other smart phones - they are all beginning to look the same I think. Here's a picture.

I looked on Amazon just now for details on this phone and at first I couldn't figure out why there were pictures of cats in the reviews! LOL The camera...oh boy.

Phone covers arrived, nice and inexpensive, $1.50 each for two of them. One is black, the other is soft and clear.

They say the camera is good. It seems okay to me. Kitty pictures are popular nowadays.

I buy them from China. Either from Gearbest.com or from banggood.com or from alibaba.com. alibaba is more difficult to use than the others because it is intended for wholesale as well as retain selling, so I do not use it very often.

That's a great deal then. I get my phone cases on Amazon and I have Prime shipping...but then because of the annual fee I am paying something toward that shipping that is free.

I bought my phone from China too. Usually there's a saving of between 50 and 100 dollars for a phone. And the shipping is free. All in all it has worked well for me so far. And this is my third direct buy of a phone from China.

Yes, it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks.

Amazon is not so cheap any more, once, back in the 2000s they were competitive but now they are more expensive than Gearbest and other similar suppliers in China. Of course, Gearbest and the like do not cover as many categories of goods as amazon. A few months ago Amazon opened a warehouse & fulfilment centre in Australia and so far they are not worth using, too expensive.

Amazon raised its rates again but the service has gone down. I order monthly and it still makes it worth the cost but when I expect 1 or 2 day shipping and it never arrives there is a problem.

ebay is good for some things but there are a lot of scams on ebay.
