Hundreds of pilgrims have descended on a Benedictine monastery for religious sisters in rural Missouri in recent days after news began to spread on social media last week that the recently exhumed remains of the contemplative order’s African American foundress appear to be incorrupt, four years after her death and burial in a simple wooden coffin.

This appears to be a hoax of some sort. In the photos, the woman’s hands and face appear to be painted.

What are your thoughts on this?

Insane. It's just like grave sucking and it reminds me of a city in Transformations with a mannequin idol looking like Michael Jackson.

A different article on this said: the sisters who told the Catholic News Agency all they did was wash away a thin layer of mold and do some wax coating on the body’s face and hands.

Claims of miracles in far-flung places are all well and good but when there's no way of knowing whether something is true, embellished or outright fabricated it's easiest to just file it under "don't know" and "don't really care".

If we believe in a God who can do all things it doesn't change our beliefs if something like this proves to be true and if we believe in a God who isn't required to do miracles on demand it doesn't change our beliefs if something like this proves to be a fabrication.

When I was Catholic I saw pictures of other bodies that were supposedly incorrupt. I don’t know what to think. Some didn’t, IMO, fit the criteria for being incorrupt and others had wax or something added to the skin. Either way, I find the whole subject creepy.
