Is it necessary to get tires aligned when replacing them instead of just putting new ones on without aligning them first?

New cars tend to be MUCH better at staying in alignment. It used to be that it was necessary to correct this annually or so, and certainly when getting new tires. Today, cars can go years and tens of thousands of miles and not need an alignment.

A GOOD oil change includes rotating and checking the tires for wear and wear patterns. Generally, they will tell you if alignment is necessary.
