I understand the arguments that Russia just wants a friendly puppet next door, but in the past, they wanted more than that, they wanted a province of Russia. That's no shocking revelation, just look at maps of the Russian Empire and Soviet Union.

What are you talking about? Wasn't the whole news story, up until very recently, was how Trump was going to take Canada against their will, and MAGA totally is behind it? Trump even went so far as to say, "It's the way it has to be.". That doesn't sound like an offer but a demand.

They're all for self-determination, Republic of Texas, all that kind of stuff, but not for an independent Canada, and obviously, they support a hyper-imperialist policy even probably ignoring the emptying of Gaza and suppression of the right to oppose Israel.
