catholic in the creed means universal, not Catholic.
Your members are as divided as ours. I know of many Catholics who don't believe that birth control is a sin. I know that many Catholics don't believe divorce is a problem. I know many Catholics who don't go to mass every time it's offered...
Because I like to learn things.
Unfortunately, all I've learned (again) is that Catholic Church has no basis for their belief that Mary had to remain a virgin after she had Jesus.
From all scripture talks about regarding marriage, it would make much more sense for her and Joseph to be married...
Lutherans also believe this. But we tend to capitalize Word all the time when we're talking about the word of God, probably just more out of habit.
I can't speak for Lam, but I think that's what she did.
Most certainly.
My son plays games by his own rules, but he won't write down the rules. Know why? So that when he's losing the game, he can change the rules and on one can argue about what the original rule said!
It's not denied in the scriptures, either, friend. MY church doesn't have a doctrine regarding her remaining a virgin. Yours does. The burden of proof then lays on you, not me. And...your proof is lacking.
That has got to be the world's best circular argument. Or worst. Take your pick.
Sure...
Because evidence of children generally means evidence of intercourse. Notice that I say GENERALLY. I'm sure Joseph and Mary didn't go out and adopt a bunch of kids.
Oooooookay. Why are the apostles so keen on her being an ever virgin?
What? That is a bizarre sentence. Let me clarify for you...
Yep, I LOVE Lake Superior, although Lake Michigan is my favorite. I grew up knowing the Great Lakes, obviously, living in Michigan. They hold a special place in my heart.
We're near Mankato in the southern portion of the state. Next month I'll be up in Nisswa, which aside from Duluth is the farthest north I've been in MN!
I have heard of it, though...
I haven't seen anyone "keen" on her having many children.
Why do you think holy tradition is so keen on her being an ever virgin?
It doesn't. It means, though, that she and her husband did have sex as far as I'm concerned. And good for them, I say!
Um, no. I expressed a thankfulness that I didn't NEED to know.
I go based on what I've read in the scriptures and what I know God expected of husbands and wives. My faith doesn't require a dogma on the matter, though, so I needn't actually worry about it. You, on the other hand, HAVE to believe...
I did have a gun shoved in my face when I opened the door once. That wasn't fun.
I remember when we decided to take our baby for walk (I was pregnant with the second child) and when we walked out there were police cars everywhere and we were told to go back inside. Then they asked if they...
It IS harsh. But true. God should be our first priority.
A good example I think would be the parent that turns a blind eye to their child's sin. I have a friend who came out while he was in college. His parents had always believed that being gay was sinful, but after he came out, they decided...
My posts show that my OPINION is that Joseph and Mary would've enjoyed the wonderful blessings of marriage, which included sex, during their time on earth. Scripture does not come out and say MARY AND JOSEPH HAD SEX but it points to them having children other than Jesus.
Being a confessional...
Those say NOTHING about her being a virgin forever.
Please, I'm a confessional Lutheran. I don't deny Mary being a virgin at the birth of Christ and I don't deny the Resurrection.
The scriptures say that Joseph didn't know here UNTIL Jesus was born. In ANY language, that tells me he had sex...
