Visions, dreams, and prophecies a danger or a blessing?

Did you have revival in 2012? If not then the scripture has this to say about that prophet's claim.Deuteronomy 18:22 when a prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word which Jehovah has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it...

Praying to the deceased - correlation with those who believe in ghosts?

Jesus is enough for the faithful. That is why the saint Paul asked the faithful to pray for him. 1Thessalonians 5:25 Brethren, pray for us. Even the repentant wicked ask for prayers. 1Kings 13:6 And the king said to the man of God, "Entreat now the favour of the LORD your God, and pray for me...

Then it is not their time to have the keys of the kingdom. John 5:16 And this was why the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did this on the sabbath.

Visions, dreams, and prophecies a danger or a blessing?

Many claims are made to speak for God today. Which of the claims do you say is the spoken word of God?

God wouldn't give a command we couldn't fulfill

Jehovah commanded:Numbers 21:8-9 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. 9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that...

Praying to the deceased - correlation with those who believe in ghosts?

Everyone prays to the saints when they ask for something to be done for them by one of the saints. The thing that is asked of the saints in heaven is no different from the thing asked of the saints on earth. "Pray for me to the Lord our God" we ask. To pray to the saints is to ask the saints to...

Visions, dreams, and prophecies a danger or a blessing?

Saint Peter wrote: 2Peter 1:19-21 And we have the prophetic spoken word made more sure. You will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of...

Praying to the deceased - correlation with those who believe in ghosts?

You didn't ask a real question. That post was a piece of theatre. It was rhetorical. The answer I gave was in kind.

I mean like the great gulf between the facts and the things written in anti-catholic opinions expressed in this and other threads.

God wouldn't give a command we couldn't fulfill

The moral principles set forth in the ten commandments provide a fence within which is safety. Relationships can be fostered within the bounds set by the commandments. Outside of them relationships are on dangerous ground. Many marriages fail because of actions that are outside of the commandments.

    Mortal Sins...

Odd that you say that considering that Jews rejected Jesus and I can't think of any modern day branch of Judaism that accepts Jesus as Messiah so the claim that you make is self evidently false.

    Mortal Sins...

True religion is not on the Lord's target list for destruction but false beliefs of every kind as well as wickedness is. 1Timothy 2:8-10 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarrelling; also that women should adorn themselves modestly and...

    Mortal Sins...

Of course it ought to be considered that what the Church wants is what God wants. Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Matthew 18:18 Truly, I say to...

    What is sin?

Seems like the folk who imagine that everything is done for them and they are asked to do nothing are likely to underestimate the danger that they are in.

    Praying effectively for the lost

Here are some thoughts on prayer. CCC 2581 For the People of God, the Temple was to be the place of their education in prayer: pilgrimages, feasts and sacrifices, the evening offering, the incense, and the bread of the Presence ("shewbread") - all these signs of the holiness and glory of God...

Praying to the deceased - correlation with those who believe in ghosts?

For the doubter who might claim there's not a single scripture quote in the post below, here is the post with the passage references show in bold. References are from the Douay Rheims Bible in which the verse and chapter numbering does not match that which is common in Protestant English bibles.

Praying to the deceased - correlation with those who believe in ghosts?

That is not correct. Just not a single chapter & verse reference, but there are many scripture quotes in the CCT paragraphs that I posted. It is left to the faithful to recognise them and apply them. I would give the references but it seems more work than is worth performing for a chat where...

    What's your faith about?

The Faith is not mine except insofar as I have inherited it by God's acts of grace towards me and by the teaching and ministry of the Catholic Church. CCC 158 "Faith seeks understanding": it is intrinsic to faith that a believer desires to know better the One in whom he has put his faith, and...
