    There's a canonical letter to the church in Rome but none to any church in England or Brittan. It takes a certain kind of crazy to pretend that the Anglicans predate the church in Rome.

    I am a Catholic. My rite is Roman but in the English language. And I do, along with my bishop and all the priests that I know, acknowledge pope Francis as successor of saint Peter who has jurisdiction over all the diocese connected to the Catholic Church.

    The church in Rome is still "merely another [local] church" similar to Ephesus, Antioch, Jerusalem, Corinth, and Thessalonika. Rome is just a city. It has no special supernatural exceptionalism.

    I have a similar perception about Anglicanism. Founded by a King seeking a second wife (one of six that he had) and his obsequious bishops does not appear to be a good case against Alien Episcopal Supremacy. ;)

    Francis is a successor to saint Peter so he is not greater than saint Peter and is not one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus Christ while saint Peter was.

    I am inclined to see apostolic succession as linking saint Peter to his successors but I acknowledge that some argue against that. I do not accept their postion.

    Some who accept that Peter is the Rock upon which the Church is founded yet deny that apostolic success exists so the verse applies to saint Peter and to no one else; no successors. I reject that point of view but some accept it.
