    Right. A wedding ring does not make the marriage. But in Baptism, we are baptized INTO the triune God and we are made His. That's not symbolic at all. Something actually happens because God's Word effects.

    God's Word is alive and active and will not return to him empty Hebrews 4:12, Isaiah 55:11. The Holy Spirit uses God's Word so any preacher that uses God's Word will of course have the power of the Holy Spirit working in the people who listen.

    I don't remember that being listed in the bible when the qualities of a pastor are given. I've never seen any of my pastors debate anyone. Does it happen elsewhere?

    Nothing in the bible about chicks or bunnies as part of the celebration but they're awfully cute. A tomb isn't cute. Yesterday I read a headline from an article that the stores are moving further away from anything religious pertaining to Easter stock. That's sad.

    What makes a person a saint?

    Sinner CAN mean unbeliever. But a sinner is also a person who sins, which we all do, "If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us..." We all still sin even though we are saints. The bible is filled with paradoxes such as these.

    I have a little problem with my body where it causes wristwatches to freak out and stop working...like strange stuff! It happened once on the bus on the way to jr. high and my friend couldn't believe how strange the watch was acting and then ...it just died.

    Lutherans believe that we are at the same time saints and sinners. So those who believe in the Savior are the saints. Those who have passed and were believes are still a part of the communion of saints. We are Holy because of the blood of the lamb.
