    Excerpts from Enoch

Regardless of that point, you’re still insisting that it’s mythical. This is the kind of argument atheists make. You insist on saying that the book of Enoch is mentioning mythical creatures. Is the KJV mentioning a mythical unicorn? A mythical satyr? How do you expect anyone to take you...

    Excerpts from Enoch

Oh, by the way, when Noah Webster says that this species of lizard called “siren” lives in Carolina, do you think that its ancestor might have been on Noah’s ark? Think about that. Just think for a moment. **Hint: Enoch lived BEFORE the flood.** https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirenidae

    Excerpts from Enoch

So you insist that the sirens in the book of Enoch are mermaids? Well, then you might as well insist that the KJV is mentioning mythical horse-like unicorns, half-goat men called satyrs, and a cockatrice -a dragon with a chicken’s head. Again, these are the arguments that an atheist would...

    Excerpts from Enoch

I don’t think you were paying attention to the conversation. The unicorn in the Bible is a real animal. Probably a rhinoceros. So also, the “sirens” talked about in the LXX and Enoch are probably just real animals, not mermaids. It’s a ridiculous argument against the book of Enoch.

    Excerpts from Enoch

That sounds like an excuse to refuse to admit that you’ve been debunked on a silly argument that you just made. While you’re at it, why don’t you make fun of the King James Bible for mentioning unicorns?

    Excerpts from Enoch

What’s sad and funny? Be specific. There’s no reason to believe that Enoch or the LXX are actually talking about a woman who is half fish, anymore than the King James is talking about a man who is half goat, or magical horses with horns. [emoji3404] [emoji882] These are the kinds of...

    Excerpts from Enoch

[Staff edit] This is just like the argument atheists make about the KJV mentioning unicorns. Noah Webster’s 1828 dictionary says a unicorn is a one-horned rhinoceros. I made a video explaining it, and after the video got over a million views, most atheists don’t even make the “unicorn”...

Can someone please explain just exactly how 2 Maccabees teaches purgatory?

Back on topic please. How does 2 Maccabees endorse purgatory?

Can someone please explain just exactly how 2 Maccabees teaches purgatory?

A technicality that is irrelevant to the discussion about how 2 Maccabees endorses purgatory.

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

That is a baseless, nonsensical claim. How did Jude know that Enoch prophesied this? That prophecy is not found in the Old Testament. It’s found in the Book of Enoch and ZERO books of the Old Testament. Are you even listening to yourselves? Your claims are complete nonsense that defies all...

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

You are the one who made the error. You are the one who made the claim that Paul quoted Menander. But you cannot back up that claim, since Paul does not claim to be quoting anyone. But in the verses where he IS quoting someone (as he says) he specifies that he is quoting someone else’s...

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

In the verses where we know that Paul is quoting Greek literature (in Acts and Titus), he DOES make it clear that he’s quoting someone else’s literature. What I said is quite true. But as for the verse in Corinthians, he never claims to be quoting anyone. So you don’t even know if he is quoting...

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

Actually, Jude specifically DID mention Enoch BY NAME and then quoted him. And we find that quote NOT in the Old Testament, but in the book of Enoch. Paul never mentioned Menander by name and then claimed to be quoting him. Never happened. Not the same comparison. Not the same in the least bit.

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

Paul never specified that he’s quoting Menander. Why must we assume that he is? Because the phrase “Bad company corrupts good character” is found nowhere in the Old Testament, but is found in a play written by Menander. If we must assume that Paul is quoting Menander simply because his words...

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

Jude specifies that he’s quoting Enoch. Paul never specifies that he’s quoting Menander. Jude indicates that he’s quoting the scriptures. Paul never indicates that he’s quoting the scriptures. Your comparison is nonsense.

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

When did Menander ever say “Bad company corrupts good morals”? And when does Paul specifically say that he’s quoting someone in this passage?

I don’t know about that. But I think there’s a certain amount of money that you can pay to release her from purgatory.
