I read some meme online that said this. My dad died of pancreatic cancer in 1989, I think. I’ve never heard of God curing this disease. Is this disease an exception? Is the Bible wrong? Has anyone ever heard of a pancreatic cancer survivor?
Does anyone from the LCMS have or know of anyone from the LCMS to have and use those olive wood prayer crosses from the Holy Land? They’re used for prayer, comfort and supposed to be a good stress reliever. Or is that a Catholic thing?
Also, pre war, did anyone from the LCMS visit the Holy Land...
New Evidence Suggests the Universe Is Twice as Old as We Thought — Popular Mechanics
After all the posts about the LCMS teaching on a young universe, now astronomers are thinking the universe is twice as old as previously thought.
Are all the things you’ve told me about the age of the universe...
Im LCMS and they don’t believe in macroevolution. So what am Ito make of this? Abandon my faith? Go back to Catholicism, which I don’t want to do, or what?
Cratonavis zhui: A Dinosaur-like Bird?
Cratonavis zhui is an alleged link between dinosaurs and birds.
Here’s an article from AIG. I just saw a podcast on Creation.com last night where two scientists said that there are no missing links but then I ran across this today. Missing link or not?
I know we’ve discussed evolution ad nauseam and you probably think this is an extension of that same...
I had a great Easter and then when we got home I was watching part of 60 minutes. The segment was talking about the Webb telescope, distant stars, how many billions of it takes for starlight to reach earth and mentioned something I’ve already known about……that we, as humans are made from...
I need some help here from an LCMS perspective. Does anybody have knowledge of the Bible’s timeline of Exodus and Egyptian chronology? The dates Egyptologists give don’t line up with the Bible. Is the Bible wrong or were the Egyptians wrong and please give the reasons why or links to those reasons.
Well people, I went to a Catholic Mass tonight, as well as Ash Wednesday and two Saturdays ago and I just don’t like it nearly as much as my contemporary Lutheran church. The whole time I was there tonight I was wishing I wasn’t there. And I was sitting with a couple of friends and still felt...
I just bought a new devotional and Jesus is referred to as our “strength, eternal comfort and perfect lover.” I heard a Catholic deacon use the word lover before, too. Is it me or is that common, or even ok? Have any of you heard of this before?
The devo is called Daily Strength for Woman. No...
Was this creature mentioned in Job and elsewhere in the Bible a real creature or mythological? Everything I’ve read and I admit I haven’t read much yet, said it was a mythological creature except Christian sites.
Does the LCMS have to believe in THAT?
Josiah said:
So, out of all the people I’ve talked to in my church, so far all are creationists and believe In a young earth. Would you say that I’m the only one there with these beliefs? Do you personally know of any member of the LCMS who believes in evolution and a young earth besides me?
We’ve already put up our small Christmas tree and I’m almost finished decorating the larger one. It’s got me thinking about what everybody’s doing for Christmas and the Christmas season this year? We’ll go to a Candleight service at my church on Christmas Eve and we plan on going out to see...
Ok, I wrote my LCMS pastor about a week 1/2 to 2 weeks ago, telling him I was leaving due to theistic evolution and age of the earth. I went to a ND church and it was ok but farther than I can comfortably drive with my anxiety. I watched Catholic services online and still don’t like it. I miss...
@Josiah
@Lamb
I saw glimpse of a news article as I was scrolling online….something about humans breeding with subhumans or animals or something. I tried to find the article again for a half hour and can’t find it. I googled and found something on how a new genetic combination can be produced...
I’m looking for possibly buying a new Bible. I currently use the NIV most often.Which translation(or are they paraphrases?) is best….NIV, NLT, CSB or ESV?
I want as good of a translation, not paraphrase, as posssible, with it being true to English,easy to understand.
