Growing up going to Catholic school the stories of hell and purgatory scared me really bad, too.

I hear people say, even family members, that "God spoke to them." i take this to mean they did not hear an audible voice, but rather they felt some emotion that they choose to attribute to God. But yes, if someone were to tell me they hear the audible voice of God or have seen with their own eyes some kind of supernatural being, then I feel they most likely have some kind of chemical imbalance going on in their brain.

Yes it seems that way. I hope I don't get banned for my postings. These are visitor messages so they are not on the forum. Now a days when people hear and see things they are labeled as mentally ill. But they did that all the time according to the Bible.

I go back and forth with the existence of God or the nonexistence. I don't have the answers but there have been times when I wanted evidence. I don't believe much of the bible. Seems like a story book written by the insane or liars.

That's exactly how I feel. I even criticsize the powers that be, I question them. I just got a pm from someone wanting to know how I define myself as a Christian. I told them I wouldn't give an answer. My Christianity is different than most. I am eclectic in my beliefs and I believe that is okay.

Hi. Thanks for your message. In my opinion a few here have anti USA sentiment. They are not from here. It doesn't bother me when people from here have issues with the country but it bothers me when those who are not here keep talking like we are all violent. That's the impression I got at least.

You will not be banned for telling me here how you believe. I think all beliefs should be respected. I appreciate you letting me know what you think. I think it takes a certain wisdom to admit one doesn't know. If we knew, then faith would not be needed.

Hi Mark. I am an agnostic Christian. Just thought I'd clarify that. I have a real problem with believing that if there was a God he still exists. I just plain don't know about it all. I think most intelligent people feel that way, at least the ones I know. I do like the stories and morals of Jesus Christ thus I say I am Christian for that reason alone. I don't know that JC still exists. IMO he died a long time ago and did not rise. I hope I do not get banned for writing this. lol

well i think it is obvious ..im not one who accepts nor ever will accept evolution and i debate it often with "those christians " also as i consider them to be slipping from their faith in favor of facts over the truth . .. its called compromise . there's no place for it .

but dont forget .. from my perspective the evidence all points to perfect design and the designer is God and his word is truth . --yeah yeah i know , you don't believe that .. but should .

lol mark.. we all know that "widely accepted" ..does not automatically mean right -it's widely accepted that a preferred theory ios the preferred theory .And dont call us boneheads haha

Yes, there are some really good folks here, but there are also some real boneheads with which I cannot hold a reasonable discussion. It is kind of startling to me to try to discuss widely accepted facts and have people display such a stubborn determination to be ignorant. It's very off-putting to say the least. I am in the process of rethinking trying to discuss anything here more substantive than the current weather, or what I had to eat today.

I will save the meat of my thoughts for other sites where people are not living in the a pre-enlightenment era.

Yeah, poliitics can be boring. Most people who post there are closed minded.

You are brave to post your views in the political forum! I sometimes don't want to check the replies by some people as they are so offensive to me.
