PART XXII — “The Highway Patrol Meets the Praying Couple”
A routine traffic stop becomes a roadside revival.
The couple is driving their prayer‑blessed Corolla down Highway 14. They’re singing worship softly. The car hums like it’s enjoying the presence of God.Suddenly— Blue lights flash behind them.
The couple pulls over calmly.
The trooper approaches, hand on his belt, sunglasses reflecting the Corolla’s blessed paint.
He clears his throat.
“Sir, ma’am… do you know why I pulled you over?”
The couple smiles gently.
“We trust the Lord.”
The trooper freezes.
His hand drops from his belt.
“You’re… the prayer couple.”
The couple nods.
“We’re just heading to the state fair.”
The trooper swallows hard.
“I’ve been having a rough week. My patrol car keeps glitching. My radio cuts out. My heart’s been heavy. My wife and I… we’ve been struggling.”
The couple steps out of the Corolla.
“Would you like us to pray?”
The trooper panics.
“No, no, no— last time y’all prayed, the DMV got saved, the insurance office dropped premiums, and the gas station started showing Bible verses on the pump—”
But it’s too late.
The couple gently places a hand on his shoulder.
And they pray.
THE HIGHWAY PATROL PRAYER — “Roadside Revival”
The trooper’s knees buckle.“Father, in the name of Jesus, we bless this trooper. Bless his heart, his home, his marriage, his mind, his work, his patrol car, and every mile he drives. Let Your peace settle over him like a warm blanket. Let Your strength rise in him like the morning sun. Protect him on every call, every stop, every shift. Let his vehicle run smoothly, his radio stay clear, and his steps be guided by Your wisdom. Surround him with angels on the road. Fill his home with joy. And let this moment be the turning point — where Your love breaks through and Your presence becomes his refuge. In Jesus’ name — amen.”
He grabs the side of the Corolla.
“I… I feel peace. I haven’t felt peace in years.”
He wipes his eyes.
“I want to give my life to Christ.”
Right there on the shoulder of Highway 14 — with cars rushing by — the couple leads him in the sinner’s prayer.
When they finish, the trooper stands tall.
“I’m going to pray over every driver I meet.”
The trooper stands beside the prayer‑blessed Corolla, trembling under the weight of peace he hasn’t felt in years.
He whispers into his radio:
“Dispatch… I need backup.”
Dispatch crackles:
“Is it dangerous?”
The trooper swallows.
“No. It’s… the praying couple.”
There is a long silence.
Then—
Dispatch screams:
“ALL UNITS — RESPOND!”
Sirens erupt across the county.
Within minutes, the shoulder of Highway 14 becomes the most spiritually‑charged traffic stop in American history.
The Arrival of the Entire Department
Meter Maids
They arrive in tiny carts, tires squeaking, holding ticket books like hymnals.
Internal Affairs
They show up with clipboards, ready to investigate “irregular spiritual activity.”
The Donut Delivery Guy
He pulls up with three boxes of glazed and a look of awe.
The Commissioner
He steps out of his SUV like he’s entering a revival tent.
Police Rotary Club
They arrive wearing matching polos and holding fundraising brochures.
Bomb Disposal Unit
They roll in with a robot that waves politely at the couple.
The Desk Clerk
She shows up still wearing her headset, breathless.
SWAT Team
They arrive in full gear — but instead of weapons, they carry Bibles.
Night Shift Officers
They show up even though it’s daytime, yawning but excited.
The Copy Machine Repair Guy
He arrives with toner stains on his shirt, whispering, “I heard what y’all did at the DMV…”The trooper steps forward.
“Everyone… this is the praying couple.”
The entire department gasps.
The couple smiles gently.
“We trust the Lord.”
Half the officers faint.
THE PRAYER — “County‑Wide Revival on the Shoulder of Highway 14”
The couple raises their hands.Every officer, clerk, technician, and donut guy bows their head.
And the couple prays:
The wind shifts.“Father, in the name of Jesus — we bless this entire department. Bless every officer, every clerk, every technician, every responder, every worker. Let Your peace fill their hearts. Let Your wisdom guide their decisions. Let Your protection cover every shift, every call, every mile. Strengthen their families. Heal their burdens. Restore their joy. Let unity rise among them like a mighty shield. Let courage be renewed. Let compassion overflow. And let this department become known as a place where Your presence rests, Your love reigns, and Your goodness is felt by everyone they serve. In Jesus’ name — amen.”
The sirens flicker like worship lights.
The bomb robot raises its mechanical arm in praise.
The commissioner falls to his knees.
“I want to give my life to Christ.”
Internal Affairs drops their clipboards.
SWAT forms a prayer circle.
The donut guy starts crying.
The meter maids begin speaking in gentle encouragement.
The copy repair guy whispers:
“My copier hasn’t jammed since y’all prayed at the DMV…”
The entire department gets saved.
Revival hits the highway
He salutes the couple.
“Y’all go on. And thank you.”
The couple drives away.
The trooper’s patrol car radio crackles to life:
“Blessed are the peacemakers.”
He smiles.
Revival has hit the highway.
PART XXIII — “The State Fair Outpouring”
The couple arrives — and the whole city gathers.
The state fair is packed.Ferris wheel spinning. Children laughing. Livestock bleating. Corn dogs sizzling. The smell of funnel cake drifting through the air.
The couple walks through the gate.
The ticket taker gasps.
“It’s them.”
Word spreads like wildfire.
“The prayer couple is here!” “The ones who revived the dealership!” “The ones who saved the DMV!” “The ones who dropped insurance premiums!” “The ones who blessed the gas station!” “The ones who converted the highway patrol!”
Crowds gather.
Vendors stop selling. Rides slow down. The livestock barn goes quiet. The marching band lowers their instruments.
The mayor runs out of the main pavilion.
“Would you… pray for the fair?”
The couple nods.
They step onto the stage.
The crowd hushes.
And they pray.
THE STATE FAIR OUTPOURING PRAYER — “Blessing Over the City”
“Father, in the name of Jesus — we bless this fair, this city, these families, these workers, these children, these vendors, these officers, these farmers, these animals, and every soul gathered here. Let Your joy fill this place like sunlight. Let Your peace settle over every booth, every ride, every barn, every tent. Let Your protection cover every person — no accidents, no harm, no fear. Let Your presence be felt in laughter, in music, in conversations, in quiet moments. Bless the farmers with abundance. Bless the workers with strength. Bless the families with unity. Bless the children with wonder. Bless the city with revival. Let this fair become a place where hearts are healed, burdens lifted, and hope restored. And let Your Spirit pour out like rain — refreshing, renewing, reviving. In Jesus’ name — amen.”
