@Holy999, I have a question, who or what is "shockofgod"? That sounds like a very irrational reaction. Why would someone get mad at an unreal myth and then blame God and Jesus for Santa's unreality?

Anyway, my parents played up the Santa myth every Christmas; it was the only thing that I remember their agreement on. Later, when I came to realize that Santa wasn't real, I did not get mad at Santa, but I was very mad at my parents for lying to me all those years.

The result was that I resolved to tell the children with whom God would bless me the whole truth about Santa. I said to them, "Jesus is real, but Santa is pretend." They learned to respect me for telling them the truth as they grew older.

FWIW, when I was a child I noticed that the rich kids got more money for their teeth than the poor kids.

A lesson I never forgot.

How did that difference make you feel, @Frankj?

Like I was among the poor. And the lesson is, quite literally if you look around the world, that the rich are the ones that get the best things (this is actually a rather important life lesson to learn, there are many things based on it and it is something the Bible actually addresses, a shall not covet sort of thing) .

Yeah, all the rich and the poor will stand before God at the Final Judgment to account for everything we have done and said. Was it for self or for God?

That is effective! It is the same way that I taught my kids to shoot real guns (from about age 3! With a 22 revolver (Ruger Super Bearcat!) and shaken up cans of soda at about 5 feet. Shoot, son! When he hit it there was a big spray of soda and the can went flying and I went and picked up the split pop can and gave ot the shooter son...and I said, this is Real this is not TV...Fix it! And he looked at me like I'm stupid because he can't fix it!

So I said, this is what would happen to your brother or your mom if you shot them! This is real, this is not TV! Dont shoot your brother!

I had figured out that there aint no such thing as a child proof gun. So to teach kids to be safe with guns I would have to, gun-proof the children! And it worked great!

This is Real! This is not TV !!!

We never had any guns in our house when our kids were there, but I can see that your method was very effective, @Edward429451!

It was and what brought it on was when we got a place to live together and when she moved in she saw the extent of my gun collection and slipped into mama bear mode on me and said, if one gun goes off in the house, they're All gone....!!!

I think I was born with a gun in my hand, lol. I've always liked to go shooting a lot and as it turned out, when I asked she who would be my wife out on our first date, she said yes, can it be Saturday? I said sure! I already had plans to go shooting 22 rifles that Saturday so I just took her with me shooting on our first date, lol!

What is the basis of your fascination with guns, @Edward429451? Are they a hobby or an obsession? We all have idols we have to overcome. Mine for a long time was sports. Now, after God dealt with that idol, it is a hobby but no longer an obsession, praise the Lord!
