Jesus Never Said That

Think he said or things he actually said?

In Matthew 26:53 he said "Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?" yet he never called for those 12 legions.

But this was something he actually said (one example) not just something someone thinks he said.

Matt 5:38-39
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:'
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Many brethren think, or are wrongly taught, that Jesus wants us to just lay down in front of our enemies. Not so. The above situation is for when preaching The Gospel, or trying to reveal the Truth, you are persecuted for it, and someone slaps or hits you, but not to cause serious bodily harm; i.e., not like trying to murder or anything like that.

Because in Luke 22, Jesus said the following to His disciples when He sent them out to preach The Gospel in final...

Luke 22:35-36
35 And He said unto them, "When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing?" And they said, "Nothing."

36 Then said He unto them, "But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one."

Lord Jesus commanding His disciples to go buy a sword for those who didn't have one, instead is a command to protect yourself from serious bodily harm intended by your enemies. Thus the commandment for God's people to be able to defend their selves from murderers, rapists, robbers, molesters, etc., is a God given right to His people. And those were especially dangers His disciples might come to face on the open road.

25 And He said unto them, "Then render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's."

Some try to claim Jesus meant we are to keep a separation between Church and state by what He said, but He never implied any such idea.

And it's amazing too that Christ's enemies, especially Communism, likes to try and push that false political disinformation about the idea of separation of Church and state.

Reason is, that when Lord Jesus said the above, the children of Israel were still under the old covenant law. And religious worship was a commandment, a requirement instituted by the then authorities per the law. So how's that for some idea that Jesus meant to separate Church from the state?

The 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;".

That means there is no such thing as a political separation of Church and state written in the U.S. Constitution. Instead, the U.S. Constitution protects the freedom of religious worship, and is not even to meddle in the affairs of religious worship. This is because the U.S. Founders did not establish a Theocracy, which for example, Israel under the old covenant was. The Catholic nations in Europe also were Theocracies, the Christian Church pretty much reigned together with the royals.
