We know there are false teachers and they are even within the church as high profile leaders

Which famous evangelists do you feel are teaching false theology?

Wow, that could raise some issues. Each of us would probably have different ideas about false teaching

Pretty much anyone who promotes a different Gospel message other than Christ crucified for the forgiveness of sins is a false teacher. If someone is preaching that man contributes to salvation then it's false. Christ saves us 100%.

He's a heretic. He preached that Christ went to hell to be tortured by satan. He should be avoided. Not to mention, he's a prosperity preacher.

True. Paul warned that in the end, people would want their ears tickled. And God pours out His wrath by turning people over to their desires.

But I prefer not to listen to heretics. If people want to believe that Jesus suffered in hell for three days, they do so to their detriment.

Creflo Dollar is a health and wealth "gospel" preacher who recently made headlines by telling his people that he needed 60 million for a new plane.

I think his name is actually Creflo Dollar. Some have referred to him as Tookyo Dollar.

Personally in the "false teacher" hall of shame I'd include Bill Johnson, Mike Bickle, Steve Schultz (and anyone whose "prophecies" appear on the Elijah List website, which adds a lot of names), Brent Engelman. John Paul Jackson is dead now but his teachings appear suspect to me. I'm also very suspicious of John and Staci Eldredge. Another guy whose name is something like Morris Cerullo has registered on my radar as probably teaching dodgy things although I haven't looked into him in enough detail to go into detail.

Brent Engelman registered on my radar about 18 months back when I encounted something with a grandiose name along the lines of "online prophetic activation training". As far as I could make out he was teaching the exact opposite of what Scripture teaches.

For what it's worth, whenever the time is right for the antichrist to rise I'm inclined to believe s/he will rise up from within the established church.

Paul warned in Acts 20 how people would rise up "from among you", Jesus warned of false prophets who would perform great signs and wonders to deceive even the elect, and if someone totally unrelated to the church were to be performing signs and wonders most of the church would probably reject them as a sorceror. But if they rose up from within the church, claiming they were working by the power of God, how many would bother to test their teachings and how many would merely follow the miracles?

Red flag for ME: "YOU are accountable, I'M infallible and thus exempt from accountability." When I see a teacher (person, denomination, sect, cult) with that self exemption of self - that's a pretty good indication of a false teacher. "Just docilicly swallow whole whatever I'M exclusively and currently saying cuz I'M currently saying it." Run... don't walk but RUN.
