Prayers for those in mourning today in Uvalde and for those who were injured and need healing.

It is lovely and kindly to pray for the people who died and for their loved ones.

It would be better still to act to stop the carnage in schools.

The way to stop that would be to shut down public schools.

Maybe we should try locking up criminals again?

As christians, we know that the cause of such things is sin and with sin, there is evil in the world.

Yes, we pray for the families of the victims of this senseless act as well as the community. We ask God to give the grieving comfort and peace at a time where comfort and peace doesn't even seem possible.

And I pray that all law enforcement that 'sheltered in place' instead of going in and getting the shooter immediately, be fired and disgraced.

Children calling 911 asking for help...and law enforcement is standing outside sheltering in place?....because they say it is a barricade situation?

If you aint got the...guts...then don't take the job. That was their job. And they failed.

That's odd to ask God to disgrace someone instead of asking for them to repent and be forgiven.

Well, that is the lightest punishment that can be considered. One might consider negligent homocide. But even that doesn't seem enough.

There is something very heinous about people who are in positions of protecting others in our society, not doing their job, out of fear, resulting in the deaths of many, and mostly children.

Can they be forgiven? By God of course if they seek it. But that doesn't discount that they should never be allowed to be law enforcement again. From the top down. Whoever initiated that order that the shooter was barricading himself and officers didn't need to rush in should be fired.

And any officers standing around doing nothing should be fired. Civilians were hollaring at the officers to rush in and do something. Some of these lost children. It's absolutely ubelieveable. Too sad to hear and read about.

I personally don't see how those responsible, and they know who they are, can live with themselves.

We must also pray for the Pastors who are ministering to their flocks at this time as well as the funerals they are conducting.

Or increase their security measures. You can't go within 1,000 feet of a school if you're carrying a gun. Yet, this guy ends up in a classroom full of children with a gun. How does that even happen?

If the school were able to protect your children, you wouldn't need the police. Why don't you be angry about that for a while?

Your statement is ridiculous. The police and law enforcement is there to protect. They didn't do it. They cowered. Children were calling for their help on the phone to them . (911). They refused.

I will be angry at those , and sick to my stomach at those, every time I think about it.

People need to be fired from the top down. Fired for cowardice in the line of duty. Prosecuted for murder or negligent homocide.

You see, the type of gun wasn't the problem. The bad person was the problem. It needed a brave good person to go in and stop him. And there was none there. As I have said, it is absolutely sickening.

I don't see how any of those can live with themselves.

It is the job of the school to keep it's staff and children safe. They failed. The police can only be called after something has happened. In this case, a guy with a gun in the classroom. Why does it have to get to that point? Why can't the school ensure all who enter will be safe?

It's always easier after the fact to sit and judge the actions of those who were there actually dealing with the situation. The cops can't always just rush in, with guns blazing in an active shooter situation.

Of course. It's also the job of every individual to keep him and his family safe. But, bad things happen. There are bad people out there. Sometimes you have to call the Law.

Oh, I see. You're saying, go ahead and call 911 so they can say that's your problem. You should have been more diligent about your saftey.

You bet its easy to judge the law enforcement that sat on their backside while children were systematically being shot and calling for help.

They didn't need to go in guns blazing. They needed to go in. Locate the shooter and kill him. That's their job. Sitting on their backside while children are being killed is not part of their job description.

If you can't do the job, if you don't have the guts, then don't take the job. Other peoples lives are at stake. Other people are dead because you couldn't muster up the courage to go in.

I have no sympathy for the law enforcement in Uvalde. They now have to live with their cowardice.

Wait.... what? You mean criminals don't obey the rules? That complicates things a bit, no?

Only when people are forced to be and remain defenseless. Put a murderer in an environment where he isn't the only one who's armed and things change. We need to rescind the gun free status on our schools. That's the first step. The next steps would be common sense security measures like having only one point of both entry and exit at a school. This entrance and exit is manned at all times. No one enters a school unless they have a valid reason for being there.

You do not enact a lock down when a shooter is in the building. You do that before he gets near the entrance and then you can call the police if you do not have campus police or a security team trained to deal with the situation. The fact that absolutely no one is appalled by the unbelievable failure of Robb Elementary to protect both students and staff is disgusting and inexcusable.

"Of course. It's also the job of every individual to keep him and his family safe. But, bad things happen. There are bad people out there. Sometimes you have to call the Law."

I agree, but when seconds count, as they did in this situation, your only option should not be help that is minutes away at best.

"Oh, I see. You're saying, go ahead and call 911 so they can say that's your problem. You should have been more diligent about your saftey."

Show me where I said that. The school has a responsibility to provide a safe working and learning environment for all people inside. You seem quite content to only hold the police responsible, but not the school system that failed at every level to protect its students and staff.

"You bet its easy to judge the law enforcement that sat on their backside while children were systematically being shot and calling for help."

Take a look at this timeline of events. You have falsely accused them.

"They didn't need to go in guns blazing. They needed to go in. Locate the shooter and kill him. That's their job. Sitting on their backside while children are being killed is not part of their job description."

They did go in, got shot at, and retreated. They didn't show up and do nothing as you falsely assert.

"If you can't do the job, if you don't have the guts, then don't take the job. Other peoples lives are at stake. Other people are dead because you couldn't muster up the courage to go in."

They did their jobs and a border patrol cop shot the shooter inside the school. Now, this could have been handled better, no doubt. But 21 people are dead because of the failure of the school. You don't go on lockdown with an active shooter inside. You go on lockdown while the shooter is approaching or before he gets inside.

"I have no sympathy for the law enforcement in Uvalde. They now have to live with their cowardice."

They're not cowards.
