How are you doing with that...trying to be sinless? I bet you fail. I can easily bet on that because only Jesus was the sinless lamb who actually died for those sins that you're trying hard to not commit...yet you do sin. If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

So how are you doing? And why not rely on Jesus for your salvation instead of trying to earn your own salvation?

Not 'earn' my salvation, but as the Apostle told us we must do - "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Phil 2:12)

And of course I'm struggling with sin; and of course I am saved. Never have I said once that I didn't or wasn't. BUT... I say this to you & all & myself... the moment we resign ourselves to believe that we must always sin while in this body, then we have already marked ourselves as unable to overcome and truthfully we label ourselves as one who doesn't really believe all that Jesus taught. Period. It really is that simple to understand.
Jesus says "stop sinning"; we say, 'Jesus will continue to forgive me even when I don't "strive against sin to the shedding of my own blood." I must choose what Jesus said.

And AGAIN... this has nothing to do with salvation. For the record... I trust Jesus 100% for my salvation. What we are talking about here is what comes AFTER being 'saved.' For contrary to much current theology, being "saved" does NOT mean we are now eternally forgiven and on our way to heaven when we die. At least according to the canon of Scripture it doesn't mean that. There is no Biblical support for such "another gospel."

Jesus said the promises of God are to "those who repent and overcome." Modern preachers say all the promises come to those who 'close their eyes, raise their hand and repeat a recited prayer.' I must choose what Jesus said.

One thing I've learned in my 53+ years on this earth... is that those who don't want to press on to attain to all that God has only for those who are truly willing to "deny themselves, pick up their cross daily and follow Jesus", will attempt to pull others down to their level of "lukewarmness." (see 1Pet 4:1-6, especially where the Spirit says we are to "cease from sin." ) I personally want to be "hot" in the Lord's eyes, and not risk being among the church-goers who are "vomited out of His mouth" in that Day.

To teach Truth God often used imperfect men, as we see clearly in the Scripture. What God has commissioned me to teach, I will continue to teach. No man can stop me. You can block me, or excommunicate me from a group or church, but as often happened with the Prophets and Apostles, I will say "I must obey God rather than man." Again, there are those who will receive what the Spirit is saying, while most will reject it (Jesus warned this would happen, so it's no surprise.)

As I wrote to someone earlier -

As anyone here who shares on a topic, I am merely presenting what I fully believe the Lord God has given me to share. Some who are willfully stubborn will verbally attack, while some who are "more fair-minded... will receive the word with all readiness, and search the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so." - Acts 17:11. Are we among those of "noble character" desiring to know Truth and be set free, or will we stubbornly refuse to believe God will actually hold us accountable for our actions committed AFTER salvation. Peter says our "past sins" were washed away, but that we must ADD to our faith if we are to enter in the fullness of the promises of God in His Kingdom. (2Pet 1:5-11)

Like someone with a Master's Degree trying to teach Calculus to a child in 2nd Grade, the child who is unable to understand at this point due to immaturity in such things will say "That's not true" and perhaps giggle a little; or if they have a bratty little side to them, even become accusatory and verbally attack the one who really does know.
In the end,the elementary principles of Math the child has learned are indeed true, but of course not the whole picture; and what the scholar has learned concerning the deeper aspects of Mathematics is also true.
The "elementary principles" of the Word which most of us have learned are indeed True; but so are the deeper things of the Kingdom, that "hidden manna" which comes to those who strive to "overcome" and "present themselves a living sacrifice to God."

The writer of Hebrews addresses the immature believers who had settled into thinking True Repentance, actual Righteousness & Holiness, and Obedience to God were unnecessary because they had been 'saved.' And he admonishes them as Journeyman does a lazy Apprentice -

"For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."
"Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do if God permits."
- Heb 5:12-6:3

No, I do NOT teach 'sinless perfection' in the saints... YET. For to deny what the Scripture declares concerning those who will become "one with Christ" (which IS the Goal of God for His Elect), is to deny the Word of God.
I do correctly teach, as the Scripture does, that we are to Repent and surrender to God in ALL areas of our life. For yes, God sees all we do; you & I & every living being that will "give an account" to Him in that Day.

Tell me, anyone... What sin is there you are committing that Jesus cannot help you be totally set free from? Some sins that you just have to do, but you believe Jesus will keep forgiving you for? If there is a single one, then Jesus failed in His assignment from the Father. And if one tells me that 'as long as I'm in this world, Jesus cannot help me stop sinning', then I say with full confidence that they are following the wrong "Jesus."

My prayer is that none the Father has called will "receive the grace of God in vain." (2Cor 6:1) But that we will truly obey what our Lord Jesus commands us, and ever strive to "stop sinning" and "come out from among" those in the churches who make any excuse for continued sin in their life, that the Father may "receive us." This is the teaching of the Holy Spirit that often I merely repeat in the teachings He has given me. To reject this Truth is not to reject me, but God.

"Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”

17 Therefore

“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.”

- 2Cor 6:14-18

May we be "separating" ourselves from sin today, and "walking worthy" of our calling in repentance and holiness of conduct before the Lord God.

Peace & Blessings, Wisdom & Understanding to all!

You just don't get it. You cannot separate yourself from sin, while possessing a sinful nature which taints everything you do. All these good deeds you think count towards some reward God is going to give you on the last day, are like filthy rags because they are stained with sin and there is nothing you can do to change that. All any of us can do is rely on Christ's forgiveness when we fail to do good.

I sin (because we all sin and it's not that we're proud of it) and yet I am perfect in Christ who clothes me in His righteousness. Michael, I wish that you would know that joy of being clothed in Christ's righteousness.

I believe in a thing called progressive sanctification which means that God is working on us right up to our last breath and we should do no less than to keep trying.

Amen brother!

Truly, we are "being sanctified" as the Scripture says. Our job is to make sure that sanctification continues through to perfection, through our repentance and obedience to whatever God calls us to; just as Jesus had to be "perfected" through His testing and suffering and obedience to God. As the writer of Hebrews says -

"For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 saying:

“I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”

13 And again:

“I will put My trust in Him.”

And again:

“Here am I and the children whom God has given Me.”

14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. 17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted."
- Heb 2:10-18

Indeed, Jesus is able to help us in our time of the testing of our faith, because He Himself was tested in the flesh and proved Himself faithful to be our Savior.

"though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him." - Heb 5:8-9

Amen to the Word and Truth of God.

Do you expect then that you'll be perfect by the time you die? What if something happens today or tomorrow to you and you pass without being perfect? Then what?

Then I can stand before God and say God I did the best I could with this sinful body but I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

I get your point, friend.... but the PROBLEM is that "I did my best." Did you? How can you KNOW? What if God thinks you didn't do your BEST? What if YOUR best isn't GOD'S best? What if you didn't ALWAYS do your best, from the moment of conception to the moment of death, in all situations, in though and word and deed, in what was done and left undone? What about that homeless person in 2001 that you chose to ignore? What about that Sunday when you didn't like a hymn and so didn't sing it? What about that time in 1994 when you didn't stick up for that person at work? Did YOU do your BEST?

Yes, we are Called to absolute moral perfection (24/7 from conception to death), to perfect and divine love, to be equal to the character of God. YUP! And yes, we have the Spirit's empowering so generally progress should be made ("NOT that I have already attained it" said the one who called himself "the chief of sinners" and who wrote, "if ANYONE claims to be without sin he is a LIAR" but "I press on to make it my own" knowing he never will - sanctification will be given him at the gate to heaven. ALWAYS, putting "I" into the formula (rather than Christ alone) leads to either false pride ("I'm so good - God just has to be good to me") OR to a terror of the conscience ("I'm never the good God wants me to be - and thus God won't be good to me"). The focus is the One on the Cross, not the one in the mirror. We NEED Him.... we never DESERVE Him.

Luke 18:9-14

The blood of Jesus is the only reason you'll ever have eternal life because you'll never be able to do good enough to appease God. So you see that works will not gain you anything at all.

Obedience to Christ is what we should be trying to do anything less and how do you call yourselves disciples? Yes it is Christs righteousness and nothing else but we are instructed in how to act and behave and we need to try or else I question someones salvation. I beleive it says you will know them by their fruits

You are instructed on how to act and behave and you fail, every minute of the day. So now what do you do?

Same thing we are told that we are saved by faith in Christ and by the blood of the lamb. Doesnt change the fact that we are commanded to do the works of Christ and for those that dont try and live in disobedience what does that say? Last time I checked a disciple is someone who follows and obeys. I think we are both at the same place just looking at it different but if not then I oppose a everyoine is saved and it doesnt matter what you do. We are instructed to press toward the mark of the hgih calling not to do our own thing

No one is saying everyone can do whatever they want. We do have someone in this forum who says we have to work our way to residence on the new earth. That is very troubling and problematic.

I am not sure that is what he is saying, I find much that he says to be true maybe it is just a problem understanding each other as to where they are coming from.

Oh, no, he's definitely saying that he needs to add his works in order to obtain eternal life with God.

Yes, and that we all need to as well. Also, if we don't receive his message, as he claims to have received it from God, we are rejecting God's anointed and 'God sees all and is watching.'

Hmmm... That is not MY stance or teaching. What Scripture itself clearly teaches is that those who will attain to the promises of God in Revelation 2 & 3 MUST overcome. Jesus' Word not mine.
I'm truly surprised that very few on this forum seen familiar with the Book of Revelation.

The First Resurrection saints are those who are found "worthy" as Jesus said; they were proven "faithful" as Jesus said; and they "repented" as Jesus commanded. :)
And, I know many don't agree with what Jesus taught in the Parable of the Sheep & Goats, but He (not I) said that the sheep were "welcomed into the Kingdom" based on their works, what they actually did. I'm sorry if Jesus' teaching offends. But that is the Way of the Cross: faithfulness, and obedience to God. Even Jesus "was perfected" through suffering which taught Him absolute obedience to God.

All this is in the Bible. I know the Lord has to "open our minds to understand." I SEE it; and once seen, it becomes clearer every time I open any book of the Bible. There is not going back. As Paul, my aim, my GOAL, is to become "one with Christ" and attain to the First Resurrection, that I, along with all who truly "ovecome" will be Christ Jesus' "co-heirs" and be privileged to minister healing the Life to creation and inherit the nations God allows into His Kingdom because they had "done good" in this life. Again, I could share 100 passages to back this up. But time is precious and the Lord is revealing new things in our day to "those who have ears to hear"; truly, I don't want to get bogged down arguing doctrine.

From now on, I will share as the Lord leads and then leave it at that. If folks want to bash His Word I won't argue. If any truly want to ask "a reason for the hope that is within me", please private message me and I will gladly interact. I love good fellowship with the saints. God has called us to grow together into a holy temple. And in that temple will appear no one with an attitude of bickering, envy, strife or division. Paul's teaching on that is unarguably clear.

Peace & Blessings, Wisdom & Understanding to all,
Michael

That's not your teaching. What an odd thing to say, since this is what you said in your other thread, The GOAL.

"We truly need to move past our humanistic understanding and acceptance of "smooth sayings" and "ear tickling" messages and "press in", and "labor to enter the rest of God."

Let as many as are mature, realize that there is a GOAL which we must strive after and walk worthy of if we are to attain it; lest we become comfortable and lazy believing that Jesus did it all."

You've said elsewhere that you no longer attend church, so you can forsake the gathering together of the saints as commanded by God and still claim to be doing all He has commanded? How does that work?

I am not sure that is what he is saying, I find much that he says to be true maybe it is just a problem understanding each other as to where they are coming from.

The problem lies in our Adamic nature that doesn't want to die. We want to be "saved" and still do things that will "not inherit the Kingdom."

What is truly 'very troubling and problematic' (to quote one of the nay-sayers) is that the church at large simply cannot accept the Biblical Truth that God will hold us (especially church-goers) accountable for their unrepentant sins in that Day. So, we've concocted several false doctrines and myths that will allow people to continue to sin in this life and still look forward to 'heaven' when they die because of what Jesus did. Problem is… the Scripture does not support that. Jesus bore His Cross; and although the modern songs may sing otherwise, He did NOT bear our cross. We must bear our own cross – proving ourselves worthy – or we will miss out on the promises of God to “those who overcome.” ( see Matt 10:38)

The prophecy of Isaiah is coming to pass in our day -
"That this is a rebellious people,
Lying children,
Children who will not hear the law of the Lord;
10 Who say to the seers, “Do not see,”
And to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things;
Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.
11 Get out of the way,
Turn aside from the path,
Cause the Holy One of Israel
To cease from before us.”

- Isaiah 30:9-11

In the context of God's discipline on those He loves and the admonishment to "strive against sin, resisting it even to bloodshed" (Heb 12:4) that God might "receive us as sons" (Heb 12:5-8), the Holy Spirit instructs us to "Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled." (Heb 12:14-15) And of course all this is written ONLY to "saved" people, not those in the world. And the Kingdom will not be comprised of a single "defiled" person, not a single 'sinner-saved-by-grace' that is still a sinner. Period. End of story. This IS Scripture that cannot be broken.

We love Jesus as our “Savior” but really don’t want to submit to Him as “Lord.”

Now That is very troubling and problematic.

You don't believe all your sins were forgiven at the cross because of Jesus according to the above post.
