Today I cooked up 4 cups of rice, cooled then added "Ragi Tape" to it for starch conversion to sugar in a sanitized bucket. Supposed to be an Indonesian way to convert the starch in rice. Last time I was at an Asian grocer I asked for Koji, and they gave me this "Ragi Tape" stuff...not exactly the same....Anyway, see how that goes.

Also made some rice crackers (er, making atm, dehydrating right now). Sprouting some lentils.

Did a few chores, played a bit of piano

Thanks! I went to bed VERY early and I feel better.

At work, something bad happened but everyone was so kind about it and life went on. It was an unusual experience but I'm extremely fortunate that I don't work with any grumpy people!

I am unpacking three items that arrived in today's mail.

• An owl pendant watch on a nice long chain
• a capacitive pen for using with my tablets and phone
• a wireless keyboard with a trackpad from Logitech

The owl is rather cute, bigger than I expected and the chain is quite long. Good, and it cost very little at $2.79 - the battery in the watch would cost that much by itself.

You pull its "ears" up and it opens thus:

Oh my gosh....IT....Worked!!!!!!

Checked on my rice today. The well I made in the middle of the rice was filled with clearish, white fluid. Using a sanitized extractor, I got some out. Although I tasted no alcohol, it was very very sweet! Saahwweeet! This of course means I can a squeeze out the fluid from the entire batch, add yeast and ferment it out to make rice wine!! I was so excited I was tempted to use something other than a cheesecloth to do it now (which I'm lacking at the moment)...but forced myself to wait cuz I don't have one.

I half expected mold....especially because I used - LONG GRAIN WHITE RICE - which is NOT ALLOWED!!! Only glutinous or "sweet" rice is allowed...but it worked anyway, and no mold that I could detect.

Celebrating with a glass of store bought Sake. :woot::bass:
