There are some scenes of horror in the Bible:

Some involve visions:

Dan 10:7-10 And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision; but a great terror fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. (8) Therefore I was left alone when I saw this great vision, and no strength remained in me; for my vigor was turned to frailty in me, and I retained no strength. (9) Yet I heard the sound of his words; and while I heard the sound of his words I was in a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground. (10) Suddenly, a hand touched me, which made me tremble on my knees and on the palms of my hands.

Rev 9:1-3 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. (2) And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. (3) Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

A horror movie with special effects unfolds in Revelation 9.

  • Smoke from the bottomless pit
  • Darkness enveloping the scene
  • Locusts emerging in the shape of battle-ready horses
  • Gold-like crowns on their heads
  • Men-like faces
  • Women-like hair
  • Lion-like teeth
  • Iron-like breastplates
  • Horse & Chariot in Battle-like wing sounds
  • Scorpion-like tails with stings in them
  • Five months of torment for the damned
  • An angelic king over them called Abaddon (Hebr) and Apollyon (Gr)
And things get worse . . .

Lots of horror in the Bible . . . a sinless man gets flogged, humiliated, and crucified.

There are indeed many terrifying things that happen in scripture. If we didn't live in a fallen world, it would be wonderful to be in paradise.

And (Elisha) went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them (2 Ki. 2:23-24, KJV)

I think the plagues on Egypt would have been like a horror movie.
