Does your church get new members during the Christmas season? If so, how do you get them to return?

I think there are a lot of visitors at my church during Christmas and Easter, including my husband, Everybody is welcome to attend but unless you’re Catholic you can’t receive Holy Communion, though you can come up to receive a blessing. But to become an actual member you have to go through RCIA first. I hope the Mass makes an impression on some of them and the priests and deacons who try to thank everbody for coming and wishing them a Merry Christmas helps too, I hope.

How do you encourage them to keep coming back to mass to worship?

My last church did a Christmas Eve service and lots of people from the community came along. Most of them were members of other churches that didn't do a Christmas Eve service, so we didn't expect them to stay.

Well, I hope that the Mass itself and friendliness of priests and deacons sway people to come back. Our sign outside often says something like “Ever thought of becoming Catholic? Call ……”

I think we had a live Nativity last year for the community. I haven’t read this weeks’ bulletin so I don’t know if they’re doing it this year or not.

Edit to Add: they are but it’s only for an hour 1/2 and costs I think $25. They have games, petting zoo, snacks and other activities for the kids.
