Busy day today since my daughter is off work and I have the car. I'm going to get groceries, do errands, spray the bushes to get rid of the bugs that practically decimated them 2 years ago and are back and we might go to the movies later.

Went for a walk around town with my wife, which got in a nice few steps for our Fitbits. Then cut the grass while she ran some errands. Exciting stuff. Maybe I'll tinker with my part-finished router table later on.

Waiting to see if it is going to rain before I decide if I'll get my walk in this morning.

Waiting to see if it is going to rain before I decide if I'll get my walk in this morning.

My forecast was for showers and thunderstorms so my wife and I went for our walk right after breakfast. It was warm and sticky but we're glad we got it in before it got any warmer. Now the rain that was supposed to start an hour ago is looking like it's coming later. But either way we got our walk in, which is good.

In unrelated news, my router table is finished and it seems to work. Even the dust extraction is working very nicely. I really wasn't sure how well it would work, given it's made from offcuts of plywood, but so far so good. At some point I'll probably either get a premade router table or build something bigger and better myself but for now this works. It's pretty high on the scale of "if a job is worth doing it's worth doing badly" in that it's small and has many limitations, but for my immediate requirements it gets me going. Now I need to figure a way to clamp mitered pieces of wood - the end game is to make my own picture frames.

I didn't get out to walk but did some pruning and weeding and then the thunder began so I went back inside just as it began to pour.

Our promised thunderstorms didn't appear. Again. It's really rather nice outside.

I experimented with my rabbeting router bit only to find that it really isn't deep enough to be making picture frames. It only takes 3/16" of wood away and every time I looked at it I was unhappy. Then I measured one of my pre-made frame and found it has a 3/8" depth. So I went to the hardware store and bought myself a shiny new router bit that cuts 3/8" rabbets.

Now I just need to figure a way to clamp and secure the joints of my frames and I'll be ready to roll. Of course changing the depth of the rabbet cut from 3/16" to 3/8" means all the calculations I did regarding the required cuts to the framing material need to be redone, but thankfully I hadn't actually done any of the cuts yet.

Working. I do in home nursing care for pediatric patients. Usually get some down time. Especially when the kiddo sleeps.

Doing well. Annoyed by a thunderstorm right now though.

How's it going?

Thunderstorms seem to affect others differently for many reasons. I have fond memories of listening to rain and thunder when I was a kid. I found it soothing and still do.

All in all not going too badly - been occupied with work and enjoying the four on-four off schedule I have. It's already been a year that I've been on the job and it still feels like I just got there.

Four on four off sounds amazing! Except I would only want 8 hour days for the 4 and not longer LOL

It can depend on what's going on for that day sometimes. Some of the reserves we drive out to are between 45 minutes to over an hour away. And if we're there for a bit - sometimes two or three hours maybe for a drop-in clinic, then the day will go by fairly quickly. Plus, the drive out to some of the reserves are gorgeous so that makes up for some of the longer days

My husband and I took a quick walk before it gets too muggy outside.

Watching the weather and deciding whether to take a long walk in the woods. One of my favorite trails has been abandoned by the local forestry department so any walks in that area are going to be longer. I'm trying to figure out how to get it reopened but fear I may be one of very few people who ever used it, and there's no way I can hold back Mother Nature single-handed.

Just browsing the internet and visiting different forums at the moment. I'll probably start watching some TV shows in a bit so I don't watch as many tonight before I go to sleep

I went for my walk, blasted around it fast enough that one of the rangers in the park said to me "you haven't done that whole loop already have you?". What I'd normally reckon on taking 120-150 minutes took me 103 today, and that included a few minutes out because I chatted to a couple I met going the other way, and a couple of minutes to enjoy the view from the top.
