A nurse come out to see me. Asked me questions, even took my blood pressure when she got here. I thought that was weird but whatever lol. Anyways I have REALLY bad balance. I fall all the time. So she suggested that I get a cane. I said fine and she then left. I then went upstairs to talk to my "mom" and she says I should get a walker as I don't have a balance issue on one side I have it on both. So I got one out of storage. What I want to know is. Do you think I'm too young for a walker? I had one when I ODed and had to learn how to walk again but that was when I was younger and it wasn't for very long.

There are exercises to help with balancing issues. You can use the walker for now but look into what you should be doing to better your balance. When my mother-in-law was alive she had balance issues and physical therapy had her do exercises but I'm not sure what those were.

I'll talk to my doctor about that. If I can get into physical therapy. I have done it before for my back.

Hey Kirssy,

Starting with a walker is a good idea. A bad fall could really set you back physically. And like Lamm said doing exercises for your particular situation would probably help you to the point of not needing the walker for long. Your Dr should be able to suggest some exercises also.

If you need it then you need it. If you need it for a time then use it for a time. If you need it for the rest of your life then use it for the rest of your life. It's easy to get ideas about what we "should" or "should not" need but the reality is you either need it or you don't.
