    Raphael means "God has healed", is it possible that God healed the sick in OT times using earthly substances? Ie Moses made an image of a serpent using the resources he had found in that area and it cured the Israelites who were bitten by snakes just by looking at it.

    Since the Maccabees believed in the resurrection they believed in the one to come, anyway I do know that Jews pray for the dead at funerals TODAY but its origins are unknown to me and they don't offer sacrifices since the temple was destroyed
