How would you tell someone politely they have poor personal hygiene habits which makes them difficult to be around?

Offer a pot of deo. My brother did that. One man smelled very bad and noone dared to tell him, so he did. He worked in a christian book store. You scare the customers away when you smell.

Well, here's what NOT to do....

When I was a Boy Scout, maybe 13 years old, we had a boy at camp who SMELLED. I mean.... BAD. All the hints... all the suggestions... all the requests... all failed. So, a group took him (physically) to the showers. And SCRUBBED him (with a brush), while others took his clothes and washed them (I was a part of this). We eventually returned his clothes - with the gift of some deodorant and a bar of soap. He got the hint.

It worked but I don't suggest it, ;)
