Donald Trump's supporters are trying to raise money to help the former president offset the $355 million fine after being found guilty in the New York civil fraud trial.

A GoFundMe page was started on the billionaire mogul's behalf shortly after the court imposed the fine on him for fraudulently inflating the value of his assets in financial documents.

It has since garnered the ire of social media users, with many saying Trump is already a billionaire and doesn't need the funds.

If Trump is such an excellent businessman, and a multi billionaire, why does he need his followers to fund his legal bills?

Your thoughts?

The supporters are acting of their own free accord and didn't consult with Trump. It could also be a total scam where they keep the money for themselves?

He may not actually "need" the financial support of well-wishers, but it's their money and they obviously believe in the principle that we sometimes call "Fair's Fair."

They are offended, I think, at Trump having to pay such extraordinary legal fees simply to defend himself against a series of politically-motivated gimmicks. It may also be that they remember that President Trump gave his Presidential salary back to the Treasury while he was in office. I don't expect to live long enough to see any other President do that.

I'm not sure people need to justify how and why they freely give what they have.

It's remarkable how Donald Trump only faced legal issues once he was elected President. It's as if the establishment is trying to block his return by whatever means it takes. You know, the same establishment that slow-walked investigating Hillary Clinton and buried the Hunter Biden news so as not to influence the looming election.

That is not exactly true. As a business man and celebrity Trump was sued over 3,500 times. That article is from 2016.

Being sued is nothing new to Donald Trump. The Felony indictments, however, are new.

The difference is that now that he is political it goes from being a blurb on the news to being the top story. The earlier lawsuits were motivated by money whereas the latest round are motivated by politics. My guess is that any money won from the former President is just gravy to those suing him.

I hope you are not thinking that the point of the current batch of lawsuits and criminal charges is something other than keeping him from becoming president. And it probably will work. Prepare for one-party government just as it operates in most of the rest of the world.

Oh I definitely think the current lawsuits are about keeping him from becoming President. The problem for Democrats is that every time he is in court his polling numbers go up and his fundraising goes up.

Democrats would have been better off to ignore Trump. As it is, they have made Trump the object of a "witch hunt". It is playing right into Trumps hands. He can be the victim of an evil government that is out to get him. All they've managed to do, so far, is make Trump more popular.

I thought that too.

Well, if they cost him billions and/or imprison him, they'll be ecstatic regardless of the outcome of the election. This is already evident in New York, and we're now only seeing the early stages of it.

But merely having to be in court all the time (not to mention imprisonment) would be enough to seriously impair Trump's ability to campaign. They're quite aware of that feature.

Lol! it is because he is such a cunning businessman that he has a go- fund-me 🤣 He's an opportunist and knows how to exploit this situation for gain.
