Do you have hymns that are Communion specific? What do you think about singing them on non-Communion days? If you always have Communion every Sunday, this doesn't apply to you :)

My Pastor usually has a Hymn of the Day which reflects the Bible verse he is basing his sermon on. If a communion hymn fits, he will use it.

That's pretty standard, I think. If there's Holy Communion, there's a Communion hymn at that time. But as for the hymns sung at other times during the service, it's usually either the sermon topic or whatever the particular Sunday happens to be on the Church Calendar (Lent, Pentecost Sunday, First Sunday in Advent, etc.) that determines the choice.
