I think that a lot of people don't understand what "Separation of Church and State" means.

In short, it does not mean that there can be no mention of anything religious whenever and wherever elected officials or government functions are concerned.

Yes - the lack of an official state religion, and the prohibition on government requiring the adherence to a religion, doesn't prohibit individuals within the government from choosing to follow whatever religion they choose.

If government officials can't follow a religion can we even have government officials, given atheism is as much a religion as any theistic religion.

The problem really isn't 'mixing church and state'. It is what religion are you mixing with the state. Christianity or Islam?

In 2019 Ihan Omar was allowed to wear the Muslim religious head covering, hijab, on the floor of the house. And rules were changed to allow that.

People bend over backwards to cater to other religions mixing with state. At the same time there is the constant effort to remove Christianity from the state.
