Traducianism: The view that in addition to the human body the human soul is transmitted from the parents to the child, rather than being created specifically for that human body by God ex nihilo (creationism). Although it may be dated to the patristic era, this teaching has been especially strong in Lutheran circles, in contrast to the Roman Catholic and Reformed preference for creationism.

“And it could be said that Levi himself, who receives tithes, paid a tithe through Abraham. For he was still in his ancestor Abraham’s loins when Melchizedek met him.” (Hebrews 7:9–10)

Enter Predestination.

What if one of your parents were someone else? Would you exist? It seems that someone like a brother or sister would exist in your place.

Or if any other person had been one of your grandparents? Would not one of your parents be different thwarting your existence? They would not be the same. So how could you be the person you are? What about that? They say millions upon millions of chances, each different, exist, but only one succeeds for a person to be born. It seems any different combination would produce someone like a brother or a sister to us. And we would not exist. And how about the external conditions that set the stage for our conception?

Divorces? Untimely deaths? Interruptions thwarting our arrival? All must be under God’s direct control (Ephesians 1:11) for our name to have been written in the book of life before the foundation of the world Ephesians 1:4. And for us to exist.

And imagine all that had to happen with your ancestors and the events in their lives going back to Eden. All falling out with precision at the right time and place for us to be here.

It seems that if only one of trillions upon trillions of your ancestral seed had been different, all from that point on would produce a different set of ancestors and you would not exist.
