Darkness will surely bring about "good" if that "good" will keep someone from Christ.

Any "good" is from God, who gets the glory for all gifts. The error on the part of the receiver of those good things not to acknowledge Him is where sin lies.

You missed this part - Care to answer?

...as far as the "disease/sin" dichotomy, can you explain how "sin" can alter brain and body chemistry so that one sinner's body can process alcohol normally, and another's can't?

Alcoholic addiction is very difficult for some people to overcome, constant encouragement and help is often needed. The same is true of some drug addictions too.

Someone claimed alcoholism could be cured.

Many alcoholics no longer get drunk, that is a cure of the malady associated with alcoholism but it may not mean that the propensity to alcohol abuse is gone from those people. Similarly one can repent of sins by turning away from them and towards God and so sin less often yet it is often still true that the propensity to sin remains.

I guess you missed my point. I'll try again.

Satan isn't opposed to things that look good (sobriety, for instance) as long as it keeps them from the intimate good, Jesus Christ.

I'm not the one who implied it could be cured. I don't think it's a disease. I think it's a sin issue that needs the gospel.

Really? Where?

Lie (what we believe about A.A. teaching): "I am _____ and I am an alcoholic"
A.A. teaching: "We are men and women who have recovered from a hopeless state of mind and body" -Bill W., Co-Founder.

Even A.A. members can believe a lie. When I was a member, I refused to state the lie, but taught what Bill W. taught.

What other 'conditions' do you regard as sin problems and not as diseases? Is alcoholism the only one?

I agree to a point. They need both.

That's fine. But it's sinful to say that they need an idol to help them overcome their sin issue. That's what happens when you tell them they need a "higher power" other than Christ.
