Luke 13:22 And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.

13:23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,

13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Jesus is speaking of entering into the Davidic earthly kingdom in which Israel will reign with Jesus for a thousand years (Jeremiah 23:5 Revelation 20:6 Revelation 5:10).

13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

13:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

To enter into the kingdom Israel had to believe the gospel of the kingdom preached by Jesus and the twelve (Matthew 4:23). Israel had to endure until the end (Matthew 24:13) and bear the fruits of righteousness (Matthew 3:10 Matthew 5:20) to be saved to enter into the kingdom.

13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

The unprofitable and unbelieving Jews will weep and gnash their teeth when they are cast out into darkness (Matthew 8:12).

13:29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.

Hello
The last two verses are referring to the kingdom of God which to Israel was the Davidic kingdom on earth.

Hello

It is a parable not a prophecy. Jesus spoke in parables a lot and that was to confuse the wise in their own minds so we must read the words of Jesus very carefully and not insert our opinions. That can cause error.

Verse 30 is part of the context and needs to be interpreted using the full context of the verses.

Hello
Jesus taught in the parables kingdom truths as mysteries to the disciples that were to be hidden to others (Luke 8:10 Matthew 13:11).

I could be wrong here, Doug, but I don't think Jesus's parables were meant to confuse; they were meant to teach essential lessons in a manner that was simple in their telling yet deep and thoughtful in their message.

Is the teaching of the Narrow Gate a Parable?
Can you explain the meanings of its elements?

I didn't think so either...

It was simply a teaching...

What do you think it refers to?

In practical and empirical terms?

Which Kingdom Israel persecuted and lost...
Because it is NOT an earthly kingdom...

The Kingdom of the Heavens is a Heavenly Kingdom...
And...
It now also exists on earth since the time of John the Baptist...

Matthew 11:12
