Boy trips and puts fist through art!

I had heard this on the radio yesterday about the boy who tripped and put his fist through a $1.5 million painting at an art museum. I was watching it on tv this morning and the newscasters were commenting on how people were holding drinks (like a fountain drink) and what museum allows THAT? Taiwan.

I would have to see how the art is displayed. If the boy crossed a barrier such as cordons then I think it is the fault of his parents. If not and people are free to approach as close as they like, then I would put the responsibility more on the doorstep of the museum.

I am an artist so I visit art museums when I can and a lot of them do not have any type of barrier. You can go right up to a lot of pieces and poke your finger on them! Not that I've ever done that (ahem). There are a great many that simply have an anti-glare glass within the frame for protection and that's it.

children should continue going to museums to enrich their minds.. but some kind of child proof barrier might be a good idea in case this happens again

iam thinking a large sheet of glass as a viable see through barrier to protect the more expensive artwork.

If I owned a piece of art like that I would put it under glass to protect it. Sounds like the museum was careless about protecting it.
