Name a Roach
"After the chocolates have been eaten and the flowers wilt, roaches remain thriving and triumphant. Give the gift that’s eternal and Name a Roach for Valentine’s Day."

The "Lover's Eye" was a gift sent by a lover in the form of a miniature painting of their eye so that it could be gazed upon by the other one.

I saw an advert for a place that, for a small fee, will name a salmon after your ex and then feed it to a bear.

I'm a hopeless romantic. I bought my wife something red for Valentine's Day. I can't find a picture of the exact thing I bought but it's much like this one:

And, being a good husband, I'll even use it for her to save her getting dirty.

In general or only for Valentine's Day?

In general. For Christmas we just say Hey I kind of want or need this and then we buy it for ourselves and say it was our Christmas/birthday present (because our birthdays are close to Christmas).

I don't like getting flowers, he has asthma so no perfume, I'm allergic to chocolate, and richy restaurants are too pretentious (here's your 1 ravioli on a plate as your appetizer).

I avoid eating out on Valentine's Day for the same reason. You get so many "table for 2" combos rammed in so you've barely got any space between them, prices are high, choices limited, and service is usually poor because they're trying to cater to too many people. They probably also figure not many people will make a scene on what's supposed to be a romantic evening, so they treat people badly and destroy any pretense of romance.

I remember many many years ago, long before I met my wife, I'd taken my then girlfriend out on Valentine's Day. The next table across was so close I seemed to be fighting with the guy beside me for elbow space and what made it awkward was that his girlfriend was really nice. At that point my relationship with my girlfriend was showing many signs of reaching its endgame so it was quite awkward having someone I really liked the look of so close, especially when she seemed to be more interested in me than her boyfriend. Ho hum....

Has anyone heard of White Castle or is it a midwest US thing? Some of the restaurants take reservations for Valentine's Day. I've never done it but I've had friends who are die hard White Castle (also called sliders) lovers who go there yearly.

I found the actual thing I bought

It goes through concrete much faster than my old wheel. My old wheel was designed for cutting rather than grinding, this is designed to grind and level and do it fast. It creates a horrendous mess very fast, but does the job.
