"Avi Loeb, one of the top astronomy professors in the world, boasting of decades of Ivy League professorships and hundreds of publicized works in respected astronomy publications, is remaining defiant that the space object – dubbed as “Oumuamua” – first noticed by Hawaiian astronomers in 2017 could be from another civilization."

[snip]

"But Loeb remains stubborn on this theory, and dismisses the claims that it’s a rock, noting that it's moving too fast for an inert rock. He told the Post that the object is long yet no more than one millimeter thick, and that it’s so light that sunlight is moving the object out of the solar system."

The object is 1 millimeter thick? Should we now fear the skinny alien lifeform?

I need to check on that to see if it was a typo in the article. Seems a bit small!

I'm reminded of two things...

1. Just because someone has an esteemed doctorate degree.... just because someone is on staff at an esteemed university... just because someone is very smart.... doesn't mean they have wisdom. There's a wonderful word for smart, well-educated idiots. The word is Sophomore. It comes from two Greek words: Sophia (wisdom) and moros (moron).

2. One of the things science (especially physics) teaches you: It's really WEIRD out there. A LOT of things that seem like pure nonsense to 99.99% of the population are actually true.

I checked on the size and the article got it wrong or the prof got it wrong:

Oumuamua is a small object, estimated to be about 100 m–1,000 m × 35 m–167 m × 35 m–167 m (328 ft–3,281 ft × 115 ft–548 ft × 115 ft–548 ft)] in size. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ʻOumuamua

Einstein once commented that not only is the universe stranger than we think but it may be stranger than we can think.

So the alien craft managed to cross billions of light years of emptiness, only for its invasion of Earth to be thwarted by the fact it was so thin the solar wind blew it away from us?

What happens if such a craft attempts an invasion? Their spacecraft would break apart if someone sneezed too close to it. Maybe alien life isn't so intelligent after all.

That would have made for an unfortunate alien invasion. They came all this way only to end up in the sea and then get cut into slices and served on little rice patties.

33 scientist who study this field of observance suggest that there was a sudden change in octopi (squids and what not) that may have been caused by an alien virus/mutation (not of earth, such instant evolution change is unheard of)...at least that's my understanding of it.
lol indeed maybe life elsewhere is not so superior as 'alien astronaut theorist' suggest... :)
This and the tiny worm floating around Jupiter is no so exciting

Unheard of changes? Almost as if someone said "let there be wriggling things that wriggle in the sea"?

It sounds like scientists don't really know what happened and just came up with a theory, and the theory then got treated as if it were fact.

The theory of evolution is yet a theory ;)
The big bang theory is yet only a theory...
I understand why religion cannot be taught in school (because all religions would be taught in school) but they teach a public dogma and declare scientific "theory" as ultimate truth... which it is scientifically not!
"I don't have enough faith to be an atheist" -I forgot who said that but it's a true statement

I have a Ph.D. in physics and while not exactly in my field, I'm ITCHING to discuss that comment about the Big Band.... but I won't.

My sister has a Ph.D. in biology and while evolution is not her field, I'm ITCHING to say something there. But I won't.

Yes, THEORY doesn't mean "guess." Gravity is a theory. Light is a theory. Space/time is a theory.

IMO, schools SHOULD teach what is currently embraced. Otherwise, they can't teach that there are 8 planets or that rabbits are animals or that Washington was the first US president. Now, is it possible that what is taught TODAY will later not be taught because what is embraced as true has changed? Yup. Happens constantly. When you read any Science book, it's already wrong. Pity the age when we stop learning.

I'm against teaching religion as a true subject because I don't want Nancy Polosi decided what is true in Relgion. We'll get books full of relativeism, "I'm okay, your okay," murder of babies is a sacrament, "marriage" is any embrace of two that love each other so that Mary Lou and her Pekinese are "married." My denomination (the LCMS) exists in the USA because 3 boat loads of people FLIED Germany in 1847 as the government decided what schools could and could not teach about God, religion, morality, the Bible. They FLED to a country with religious freedom - including freedom FROM the state. God put PARENTS (especially FATHERS!) in charge of teaching religion to their kids, not to the secular state or some State Board of Education. Heck, I don't want them teaching my son their SICK, SICK ideas about sex, much less their HERETICAL ideas about God. I'll do it. Thank you very much.

End of rants. LOL

I find the theories no threat to God if they are found to be true, so please scratch that itch! :)
