So I’ve been under employed for about six years now. (Struggling to get 30 hours a week, no raises or benefits)

I had an interview today that went great and the manager said he’s recommending me to HR for hire. He said they’d do a background check and then call with an offer.

It’s literally like a five minute drive from my house. My current job is costing a lot in gas every week commuting back and forth to work.

The new job would be an increase in pay, full time and benefits.

Come what may glory to God \o/!

A gal from HR called me a bit ago and notified me of the official wage amount and if I accept it upon passing their drug and background check. It’s five dollars more an hour than I make now so it was a no brainer. She said it could take up to a week and a half to complete the check so now I’m in a quandary whether to give my two weeks notice to my current employer now or wait for the background to clear officially. I have no criminal history and my work experience and references are legit so im pretty certain things should go smoothly. I know the manager was anxious for me to start because the three of them in the department were covering for the other position but both the manager and
HR understood that if I wanted to wait till things wrapped up before giving my two weeks notice they could respect that.

Well I got the call Friday that they want me to start on the 14th! I need to stop by tomorrow morning and finish filling out paperwork. I also put in notice to my current employer that my last day working for them would be this up coming Friday the 11th. They tried to talk me into staying but they realized they couldn’t compete with my new job offer.

My wife just got back from visiting her dad. But now we’ll be able to travel more than just over a weekend now that I’ll be getting vacation time.

Update;

So today is my last day at my current employment and start orientation Monday morning at my new job.

Now I was doing building maintenance for four hours a day and repairing the company’s cleaning equipment ie,... rider scrubbers, buffers, vacuums ect. But just recently we picked up a second building account very close to my house. I just completed my second full week there. And that situation was working well as was the first. Now I was already applying for jobs before my current employer assigned me to this new contract and that’s when the hospital called me for an interview. Now I have to admit the hospital job sounds great but I’m still nervous not knowing what I’m walking into but the supervisor at the new building I just started hated to see me leave and told me if the new job at the hospital doesn’t work out to give him a call. You don’t know how much relief that is giving me to have a plan B. *I’m a serious worrier* :scared: So I’m going into the weekend with a whole lot of stress off my back now :cool-relaxed:

You know they love you when they beg you to stay or offer you a position to return :) You must be a very hard worker!

Thanks but I think compulsive would be a better description :spinningsmilie:
When it comes to some things, work being one of them, I seem to only have one speed, HIGH!
That was fine up to my forties but now I tend to run myself into the ground. I’ll catch myself in high gear and tell myself ‘Tigger’ take it down a notch or two and the next thing I know I’m in high gear again :dunno:
That also carries over to theology for me. I have to be under a monergistic system bc if I’m in a synergistic denomination it stimulates a hamster wheel syndrome response. :dog:
