I'm thinking of Jacob to Israel and Abram to Abraham here and wonder if y'all ever thought you were being led by God to change your name?

It's long tradition to give a person a new name at Baptism... so that one has a birth name and a baptism (Christian) name..... but it's a custom not common in the USA and is not the case with me.

I like my name. I'm named for an OT Protestant. I love his story in the NT.

I have always wanted a different name but I don't think it's from God. In fact, if it HAD been from God I would still want that name but I haven't even thought about it since my teenage years until now. I almost wrote in here that I never felt I should have a different name but then it came to me that I did at one point. That was a long time ago.
