I resent having to pay for a glass of water at a restaurant in the big cities.

That happened to me when I used to eat out in Chicago!! I would go out to eat with friends during lunch when I worked there and was shocked that I had to pay $2 for water!! I couldn't afford that along with my meal because I didn't make a lot of money at first. Once I started making more money I just didn't go out to eat as much for lunch.

Yeah and I think 2 dollars for a glass of soda is to much as well, they rip you off and everywhere is doing it

Is that all you resent, Arsenios?

Well, I used to resent uninvited demonic incursions into my psyche...
They would not go away, so I concluded they were me...
So with that I sought to live with integrity...
Such is the deception...
Finally gave up...
Met God...
So I do not resent the incursions...
For through them I met God...

When they depart, motivation becomes problematic...
Especially at my advanced age...
So now I almost but not quite miss them...
I hate their demonic origins...
But in this life, they act as drivers...
Drivers of Repentance unto the Kingdom of Heaven...

I am not all that resentful these days...
A shadow will fall on occassion...
And I get to stomp on it...
Ridovits these days...
Cleaning up little spills...
Wondering what is next...
Big clean up work is historical these days...
Or at least so it seems to me...

They charge $1 here! There is a free air place too but I forgot where it is. I have my own little machine to put air in my car tires. Haven't used it yet.

We pay for a TV licence here because the BBC don't show adverts in between programs.. I hate paying for this but you can't have a TV without one or get fined a £1000

It is also a dollar here. I had to use it twice in the last two weeks due to a nail in one of my tires. I'm sure somewhere it must be free, but I don't know where. They even accept credit cards now with some of the newer air machines if you can believe that

They probably installed credit card takers because they are going to raise the prices even more, like everything now a days.

How much was the TV license. I don't think we have them here or at least I never had to have one.

In BC, we pay carbon taxes - tax on the air we breathe. I resent that. I also resent that we pay more taxes than any other province in the country, all because we have the prettiest province and government takes advantage of that.

Taxed on breathing...well that's new. I think you win in the thread :D

"If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet."

-The Beatles

Meh, some form of per-capita tax isn't that uncommon, which is little more than a tax on existing. In the US you have property taxes where you get to pay and pay and pay again for what you already paid for. In the UK you have a similar tax (called the council tax) paid by the occupant of the property rather than the owner, where again you pay every year for the privilege of living in an area. I guess someone has to fund the council's wastefulness.
