I used to hate having to pay so much money for water but now we have a well so I'm glad we only have to pay for the small bit of electricity the pump uses. What do you resent having to pay for?

Water is free, it literally falls from the sky. It's just that if you want someone to purify it and deliver it direct to your house to save you having to store the rainwater you have to pay them to do it.

I resent ongoing taxes associated with nothing more than existing and ownership of something I already bought. Property taxes, per capita taxes etc, little more than expecting people to pay again and again and again simply to continue to own what is already theirs. Per capita taxes are even worse, they are a tax on existence.

What I think would make a lot of sense would be to jump pipe unpurified water to peoples' homes and let them purify it as they needed it.

You need drinking quality water to drink, to cook food, to brush teeth etc. So you purify what you need. You don't need drinking quality water to wash the car, pressure wash the driveway, water the plants, flush the toilet etc. But the way we work is we purify everything, a lot of it leaks out of the pipes and much of what is used didn't need to be purified anyway. It's a whole lot of wastage designed into the system.

Is there a back story behind that? A picture with text overlaid doesn't actually say very much.
In some states it's illegal to collect rain water... that's all :)

Then the problem is with the state, not the fact the water falls freely from the sky, no?

This is true! And insane! A friend of mine needed a special permit to collect water for his garden. At least that's what he said on FB. You can't believe everything on the internet :)

In BC, we pay carbon taxes - tax on the air we breathe. I resent that. I also resent that we pay more taxes than any other province in the country, all because we have the prettiest province and government takes advantage of that.
