So you would welcome drug dealer contributions from the drugs they sell to your kids? Look the other way at where the funding is coming from. Got it.

I have no idea what that has to do with the Basilica block party. But if you know then tell us. Tells how you know too. Did you write a letter to the bishop and to the party organisers? Have they replied yet?

Of course you know the connection. Don't play dumb. This is your church...

Just one more thought before I leave this thread, is it not said in the bible that the treasure of the wicked is laid up for the righteous?

I often wondered about the church beer gardens I've seen at festivals. In the evening hours you can see many drunks under those tents and I wonder if that is something that should be condoned by a church just to make money?

Remember Jesus warning: 37 Don’t be a judge of others and you will not be judged; do not condemn and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven; 38 give and it will be given to you, and you will receive in your sack good measure, pressed down, full and running over. For the measure you give will be the measure you receive back.

Just saying.

Is someone judging someone's salvation? Or is it a caution against promotion of what could potentially lead to sinful behavior?

Read what Jesus said again, there's no caveat abut salvation in it. It says 37 Don’t be a judge of others and you will not be judged; do not condemn and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven; 38 give and it will be given to you, and you will receive in your sack good measure, pressed down, full and running over. Do you feel condemned, MC?

It is 72 hours of debauchery, drunkenness, sexual promiscuity, both hetero and homosexual sex around the Basilica. Pagans revel in this binge of human decadence.
I didn't find this description on the website lol
Nothing wrong with raising money for a church with live music and God forbid they drink a few beers.
Jesus certainly didnt go around changing water to wine, no that would be abuse and he definitely didnt say to drink in remembrance of him.
Btw how much is too much before becoming a drunkard?
I couldnt find any video of the homosexual witch orgies you spoke of... if you can backup your crude description with evidence then please share.

Frankly, Beer Gardens and Bingo are almost synonymous with Catholic fairs - and I don't mean that as a jab - it just is. Every year in Michigan the local Catholic college would have a week-long fair (rides and such - great fun), and the beer garden and Bingo were expected. If one wanted to attend, they attended. If one didn't, they didn't. I was more worried about getting stuck upside-down on those cheap rides than the beer garden.
it's just strange that some Christians attend concerts (even festivals) and occasionally drink, but attach "Catholic" or (insert denom. here ____) and we're up in arms.

Hypocritical prudery is very common. I don't see what good it does. In this case it is just a little piece of point scoring suitable for a mean spirited game of trivial pursuit.

Judge not, lest ye be judged is one of the top misinterpreted verses.

Yes, perhaps "Judge not, lest ye be judged is one of the top misinterpreted verses." may be true. One example of misinterpretation would be reading "another person's salvation" into it. But the passage that I quoted says, 37 Don’t be a judge of others and you will not be judged; do not condemn and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven; 38 give and it will be given to you, and you will receive in your sack good measure, pressed down, full and running over. One thing it doesnt mean is not to judge. Paul exhorted us to judge matters within the church that is proper judgement but to judge anothers actions without fully knowing or going on hearsay is obviously not the judging we are supposed to do.

Very true brother psalms 91 and I think it also means not to judge one whom God has commended for her action in saving the spies because God does not judge with condemnation her action in saving the spies instead he commends it. Rahab was also a prostitute and without a doubt she sinned in prostituting herself, yet God saved her so whatever weight of sin may have been on her shoulders it was not one that God could not lift. And her lie to the men who wanted to kill the spies is not condemned as a sin by God it is named a sin by some folk living in our own times for reasons of their own but not with justification from the holy scriptures. Rahab is not called a liar nor is her lie called a sin by God and when it comes to judging God is the only one with the necessary qualifications to say what is a sin and what is not.

Rahab was also a prostitute and without a doubt she sinned in prostituting herself,
yet God saved her so whatever weight of sin may have been on her shoulders
it was not one that God could not lift.

Her spirit reappears in Luke:

Luk 7:47
Wherefore I say unto thee,
Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much:
but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Luk 7:48 And he said unto her,
"Thy sins are forgiven."

Indeed, sin is reckoned through intentions, and is not a matter of mechanical do's and don'ts...

At least it is so reckoned at the beginings...

A stray evil thought for a Saint is a bigger sin than is murder for one not knowing God...

Maturity brings increasingly greater responsibility...

The Archdiocese in Minneapolis is beginning their weekend block party to raise money for upkeep of the Basilica.
It is 72 hours of debauchery, drunkenness, sexual promiscuity, both hetero and homosexual sex around the Basilica. Pagans revel in this binge of human decadence.
Someone please explain how the Roman Church makes the end justify the means.

How was the party? hehe
